Maddie did as well as could have been expected of her yesterday. I expected her to place 6-7 and she was 6. Lia and Trennt stepped in well and placed where I had expected Deanna and Max to be - so you haven't lost any points there. I realise that this may be an unpopular opinion, but I was a bit disappointed with Piper and Paul. There wasn't really anything wrong with their skate, but it was just a bit lacklustre and that showed against the energy of others. I think their placement was fair, but it was lower than I had expected before the event. I don't think they have quite the right programmes this year, and it isn't showing their skating in its best light.
I know. The Canadians are skating like they really want the bronze medal. They should have been ahead, yet, are behind now by 1 point.
Also, I think Canada didn’t expect GoGo to place so well …. Third is wow!!
So, that is why they selected to save P&P for ice dance. Love LaLa. So, I don’t mind.
But, really, Canada’s best opportunity at bronze is in the team event, in my opinion.

TBH. Gogo should have scored ahead of that messy SP of Ilia
. Okay... I am probably alone thinking that but might as well say it here 
I knew early in the season Stephen would be selected. You could just tell he got his jumps back under control.

Gogo really was on fire! Happy Canada made it to the free!

If he keeps skating like this, he will reach 43-44 in PCS and become a PCS skater like Grassl and Malinin

It's possible.
Lia and Trennt need to remain 1 rank below the Italians at worse.
Then, Maddie and Gogo would need 4 ranks in total above the singles from Italy between the two of them. It's a very tough path to the bronze.
Being tied before pairs would have lessen the pressure on the single skaters. It's hard to blame Canada here considering what the judges served our skaters in the first day but yeah... it's a mistake.
They had to essentially decide before knowing that they would make the free to give LaLa a chance to practice and prepare for it, when the conversation was more "Will Canada make the free?" instead of "Is Canada in the race for bronze?" I'm just happy they made the free after all the talk about them not making it.
I would expect ITA to place higher than CAN in pairs (and it would be the same with Deanna and Max skating). Unless Lara Naki Gutman implodes under the pressure, she is likely to place ahead of Maddie. A clean Gogo is probably similar to a clean Grassl or Rizzo. You probably needed to win the FD and have Italy place 4th or lower, in order for you to get bronze.
Ultimately the medal was lost in women.
Not Maddie’s fault, but it was just too low to make up the points in the other events especially when there is less on the line in the free.
It’s kind of like how JP will likely loose the gold because the gap as too big.
Basically you need all members in the top 5 of each segment to climb that podium.

Definitely not Maddie's fault. The judges killed Canada' a chances by
Putting Piper and Paul in fourth place. We all know this is BS
+ 1 point against Italy
Underscoring Jia and overscoring Nastya
+ 2 points against Italy
In my rankings,
We would have Canada ahead of Italy at this point. Even with lala skating the FD
Of course, with proper scoring Piper and Paul may have been skating the RD
+2 points
Si Canada, instead of 2 points back would be 3 points ahead of Italy.
Of course, this is just my hypothetical scoring but I stand by it.
I could even say that Gogo should have beaten ilia and add another point to Canada but that may be a bit pushy.

Not sure this has already been discussed to death elsewhere, but what is up with that kindergarten tech box! Very unhelpful. Still enjoying the baby championships in Dartmouth.
