2025-26 Retirements, Splits and New Partnerships

And we can see a banner saying LYON Glace something... So yeah.. training in France right now and probably waiting to get a release to make an announcement which will not be too quick considering Nadiia is a former junior world medallist (Skate Canada used to have a rule about transfer for skaters with high achievements)... Oh well.. sad to see her go.. yes... i am deeply assuming that she's going to represent France.
I was just thinking about Nadiia and am happy that she gets a chance to continue her career.

Wow! I had pretty much given up on Linus coming back.

As his adoptive father on here, I should warn you that Linus has a bit of a reputation. He has had quite a few partners, and the partnerships tend to not last very long. Apart from his original partner (Kamille Viggers), only his partnership with Sofía Val lasted more than one season. And that was just 2 seasons.

Hopefully this partnership will buck the trend.

This has been known for some time by Isabella's closest followers and guessed at by other speculators on another site and other social media sites. Isabella told subscribers some details, i.e., regarding her training in France, etc. We knew the official partner identity and announcement would be coming before the new season, but she has just been taking her time training, chilling on vacation, and then revving back up with training again. She's still close to her former partner, who has moved on with his life.

Since Isabella removed Team USA from her IG profile early this year, and Linus appears to be very close to his French coaches, and they are training under those coaches in France, it makes sense they will rep France.

BTW, it was Sofia Val who split with Linus. He said at the time how much he had envisioned having a long term, successful partnership with Sofia. Linus initially skated with his sister. I am not familiar with Viggers. And frankly, Elise Montaner and Linus were clearly not well-matched. Isabella has had her share of partner misfortunes, too. Her previous two partnership misfortunes, most athletes would not have recovered from. Kudos to Isabella for her courage and resilience. Wishing Flores/ Colmer Jepsen the very best of luck and good fortune, which they both deserve! ⛸️🪄🍀

Okay, I see that Isabella and Linus are entered domestically at Lake Placid. Shocker, really. I'm gonna bet that U.S
fed ultimately balked at releasing Isabella. This must be the reason why they waited to announce the partnership for so long. Her release was being held up. I'm gonna bet U.S. fed ultimately has realized Isabella's rare star quality (especially with all her fans crying on IG who are having a hard time accepting that the mesmerizing Flores/Desyatov partnership is over).

Flores has upwards of 375K IG followers, which is unheard of even for most retired top skaters, aside from huge stars like MK, Jason, Johnny, but few others. Members of usfigsk must have questioned letting go of a skater with that type of following and star quality. For sure, they would have regretted it. Had Flores/Desyatov competed at 2024 SA, Isabella's IG followers would have well surpassed 400K by now. F/D had one of the top FDs (to 'Poor Things' by K.Weaver), in a notoriously dull season.

Isabella last competed for the USA at the Den Ten Memorial challenger event last October. She cannot get a release yet.

Just a small correction. Leonora was not Linus' initial partner - she was his third. After Linus' partnership with Laura Bronée (his 2014–15 Season partner) ended and he missed the 2015–16 Season, Leonora temporarily switched from Singles to Ice Dance so that her brother would not be out of action for any longer. And then she resumed her Singles career when he found a new partner in Sara Buch-Weeke (his 2017–18 Season partner).

It's kinda like the Taschlers. When Filip's partnership with Karolína Karlíková ended, Natálie switched from Singles to Ice Dance to help her brother out. The difference is that in this case the switch was permanent, and they have been together ever since.

Getting back to Linus, don't worry, I remembered that it was Sofía that split with him. I have got the impression over the years that Sofía is very driven and determined, and will make the decision to move on if she doesn't think a partnership is going to bring as much success as she anticipated. Nevertheless, it added to Linus' list of short-lived partnerships.

As for his first partner, here is a really cute video of them from way back in January 2012:

Kamille Viggers / Linus Colmor Jepsen - 2012 Dancup FD

And for comparison, here is another from the final season of their partnership:

Obviously, she'd have to wait at least a year for a release. But, fans expected that she would be able to compete domestically for France. She had removed 'Team USA' from her IG profile, and she was training French technique in France with French coaches. U.S. need to treat Isabella Flores with the utmost respect after all the grief she has been through with two partnerships through no fault of her own. Not to mention the problem in 2022, pre the Desyatov partnership, when her planned id pairing with Sasha Vakhnov fell through because he couldn't get into the U.S. on a Russian visa.

Most likely, negotiating was going on bts, regarding releases and country representation, which would be why the new Isabella/ Linus partnership announcement was kept on hold for so long.

I'm sure the US were fine. They have enough teams to have top teams for the next two decades, and enough girls with star power. Maybe the other teams aren't famous for baiting, but in the end the competitions happen with judges, not fans. I'm sure they were waiting to announce because both bella and Linus have bad partnership/tryout history, and they both wanted to make sure it was going to work before announcing. Release wouldn't impact anything yet, as she cannot be released until October.

Martina Ariano Kent and Charly Laliberte-Laurent (Pairs, Canada) have ended their partnership. He is looking for a new partner.

I knew this announcement was coming, but this still hurts. I hope both of them are doing well and find success in the future. May Charly find a new partner soon (same for Martina if she wants to continue doing pairs).

Lianne Fan and Oliver Ma are a new Ice Dance team from the entries for Souvenir Georges-Ethier - https://patinage.qc.ca/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Liste-participants-SGE_2025-29072025.pdf

She last represented the US, he last represented Australia, no country of representation is indicated on the entries (they're entered under their club.)
Oliver tagged Ice Skating Australia in one of his IG posts as recently as May, so for now, I'd tentatively assume they'll represent Australia, but we'll have to wait for official confirmation either way.

Just read that Zinia Wood and Harry Mattick are a new Pair team for the UK.

YES!!!!! :cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

Both of the Woods twins had started trying out Pairs skating at the same time, but whereas Zarah switched to Pairs permanently, Zinia very quickly went back to Singles skating. But, I am not surprised to see her try again.

And I am absolutely delighted to see Harry back. I really liked him and his former partner, Lydia Smart.

Now we just need to find somebody for Lydia to get back in action with.

Ugh that sucks! I was hoping they would skate for Canada…
