5' 2 and one half inches...gets it from her Russian father! LOL! Its the skates...Also, the camera angle and Many Japanese skaters are closer to 5 ft.

I agree but I am biased. I like the artistry and expression of the Japanese ladies...they make me feel. Sofia doesnt make me feel.

Huge congratulations to Rion on her win! The program was amazing! 
Mone's performance was so refined and elegant, her skating skills were second to none! A bit sad about the fall but hopefully she can now rest and have a good preparation for 4CC and Worlds

For me, it was a statistical tie. I will spare you my rant about dog shows where there are people who think they they can say THIS German shepherd is a better GSD than THIS Corgi is a better Corgi than THIS poodle...etc ad nauseum.Huge congratulations to Rion on her win! The program was amazing!

I looked it up and seems Samodelkina is now 170cm. She was towering over Chiba. Great effort from Sofya with the higher centre of gravity, more difficult to rotate an athletic physique (why junior females have an easier time jumping than seniors).

This competition was great. I watched the men's and the Dance and, together with Canadian Nationals, had a great weekend of figure skating to watch (not yet finished, but I'll watch the Free Dance at Canadian's tomorrow). I always like Dance events, and there were some nice surprises here, from seeing the Spanish win (great voor Sofia and Asaf to win here) to sadly some big issues with the Polish couple who eventually were last. The French always are innovative, and got second place, good to see a couple from Sweden as well. I think Sarah Hurtado must have been very proud, het second couple of dancers didn't do so bad either.
The Mens's was a big treat, with great differences in placement between the SP and the FS (we do call that menning). Not so for Daniel Grassl, who was third in the SP, and 1st in the FS and second overall. Good for him! Junwhan Cha had a not so spectacular SP (he was 5th) but his long was awesome (his remains the best Ina Bauer in the business) and he got a bronze medal into the bargain. Yuma Kagiyama had the best SP ever (over 106 points) but was not so good in the FS. Still remained first on the podium though and he did jump a quad Flip for the first time successfully. It was lovely to see Corey Circelli again (such a lyrical skater), Sadly Shun Sato had an excellent short but his FS was just not there this time. Sota did not have his weekend either (in both parts of the competition). Arlet Levandi is always lovely to watch, and his 3A was almost there this time.
