Yay, what an extravaganza! Music, choreo, costume, all quite daring but she pulled it off brilliantly. New leader?

Great program skated well, nitpicking here but she did start performing after the loop, but still a great job

some more colors and she would have gotten a nomination, what a missed opportunity the program is weird but certainly standsout

This sort of feels like if you crossed Ikura Kushida with Hana Yoshida and then gave it its own unique spin. (This is a big compliment.)

Such an original, fun skate by Mayuko. Love her peacock costume, and peacock strut at the start! 3Lz‑3T to start, a big falling leaf out of the axel. Excellent 3Lo. I like the loop followed by a toe turn in the step sequence, and her extended Yametova slide. The sideways position in her ch combo spin with the arm through was striking!

Junior Pairs at the Robin Cousins Cup last week was made up of 2 American partnerships and 2 British partnerships. And when they were all on the ice in their jackets for the early stages of the Warm-Up, they all looked the same. I couldn't tell who was who, because the jackets were so similar and plain. (You couldn't make out the writing from the distance the camera was).

Rika performed to the jazz better ( she was a few years older) but I like modern jazz programs because it results in unique choreo that is less traditionally gendered.
