2025 JGP Ankara Women's Short Program

Bezkorovainaya did better than Ted with her name pronunciation
Everybody does better than Ted. If he got them all right, we'd wonder if AI was finally replacing humans (except that AI can't pronounce to save its virtual life, I know)

Crying again😓 but loved Sofia’s skate.. read somewhere (?) that she is skating Everly’s program and wearing her dress too. Was that Ilia’s father with her in the K & C?
The comments on the Legacy on Ice video say it's Everly's music and dress (can't speak to their reliability):

Gosh, looking at the results, I knew my luck with predictions won't last, but boy... However, I am super looking forward to Von Felten's 3A+3T and Bezkorovainaya's tribute program.

Yes that is Ilia's dad
Ilia's parents plus Raf were listed as Sofia's coaches. Probably some people knew this already, but I had been wondering if they would "adopt" her, and it seems that they have. I have a good feeling about this team up.

Sophie JvF and Sofia made me cry . . . I'm glad they travelled here together because I imagine it may bring them some comfort to be with another young person who shares the same feelings. Roman's student Lucius Kazanecki and Letov & Ganicheva's (Sophie's coaches) student Henry Gao are also here, so it's kind of becoming a Washington Figure Skating Club + Skating Club of Boston solidarity event for the Americans.

Can I say that after all the suffering over dreadful KnCs last year, this one is a blessed relief, unobtrusive but it looks good for the skaters. I am crossing fingers for more classy ones this year (though not for Skate America).

I’ve been so busy I just downright forgot about the JGP. I missed last week so I have to catch up!

I just watched groups 3, 4, 6, and Kim Yujae. Oka’s program was my favorite and it stands out in a big way. I love the choreography and the hand movements in the final spin. I would’ve had in her first. This program also reminds me of Rika Kihira’s short program in 2019-20.

I think Oka’s the same skater I saw for the first time last year in a domestic competition. This skater attempted a 3A and did a… layback knee-slide thingie in the ChSq that I really liked. I think that skater was Oka.

I also really liked Kim Yujae. That was a lovely program that deserved better than a 62. Best I saw her perform actually but it’s very possible I could be mixing her up with her sister.

Wow, Von Felten was very powerful emotionally, and that 3A was great. With Bezkorvaynaia I needed to hear the explanation to glimpse the personal significance of the program to her, but Von Felten, she was in her own tier in this competition. I liked Murakami a whole lot, didn't get Oka at all. Really bummed about Gladkih's fall on spin. Also, there were skaters from Turkiye, Kaz and Uzbekistan who really make it look like they have resources to develop despite representing small feds. Demonstrates how hard it is to have a proper access. Kalugina looks like she maybe had a huge growth spurt. Don't wanna give up on her, but i regret putting her in my predictions after this program, since it was really low on everything including jumps. Oh, i have no clue why Gao scored so low. Loved her packaging and program.

Onto rhythm dance for me, going to leave men for later, since i am not particularly invested into anyone there.

I was looking at US skater bios for something else, and I randomly thought to check Sofia's to see what she said about her programs, and the bio confirms that it was meant to be Everly's program.
