Takumi Sugiyama is such a hidden gem, his performance quality is amazing!! I love how detailed & patient his movements are. And it's not easy to pull off Nureyev, but he nailed it!

Sorry Kazuki, with the 2 solemn programs back-to-back, I think I'd give Takumi the win

uhh, I might have no nails left to bite for Challengers and GP... I'd better stop my Sota anxiety with something to drink 😬

Takumi is probably the first skater I like just from seeing his photos, LOL. His hands and arms are insanely beautiful in motion.

I can't find it right now, but there was an interview during the off-season, in which Ikura said that she wants to make it to the JGPF this season. I think that's also where she talked about "still having things to prove in Singles", which to me sounds very much like the opposite of "just being there for fun" or putting less pressure on herself.

Of course, nobody but Ikura and her team knows what has happened since that interview. Maybe JSF is trying to push her into fully transitioning to Ice Dance with the abrupt split of Tanaka/Nishiyama, maybe she and her team are making the decision, who knows? Still does not change the fact that she isn't less deserving or even completely undeserving of getting a JGP just because she's doing both Singles and Ice Dance. Not if she's performing like this.

And while Ikura definitely has a history of underperforming at international competitions, we are still talking about a skater who never placed lower than 5th at any of her international assignments. Ikura's bad performances are still good performances when compared to most of the Junior field.

I don't disagree with you, but Ikura got a bit lucky in some of her international assignments that many other skaters also underperformed, leaving her higher in the standings.

And other than the JGP selection competition, I don't know what other criteria JSF has to send skaters to JGP. Did Ikura even go to the JGP selection competition?

And I agree with @rabidline, plus the AzuShin situation that you mentioned - if JSF is pouring a lot of money on her to do ice dance, I can understand them wanting her to focus more on ice dance and giving the JGP opportunity to another skater.

Ouch agh seemed like Shunshun hit his forehead on that axel fall. He keeps touching his forehead, I hope he'll be okay 😭 😭

JSF is likely not pouring money on anyone 😅 But not every potential ice dance male partner comes with the backing of Kinoshita Group, who doesn't have an ice dance team on their roster....

Hallelujah suits Sota really well, though there are much better versions out there he could've used 😅

Love his spread eagle though, it really is his signature choreo move 😍
