2025 World Championships Practice Reports

Daiwei DAI CHN skates his SP. His hobbies include swimming and he was born in St. Petersburg , RUS. That is one very nice spin to open his program. What happened to Boyang JIN?

Shun SATO JPN skating his FS - he too looks a bit off axis and pops a 3F. Another attempt at the 3F this time a beauty. Seems a bit under rotated on the axels today. It is a long trip from Japan so they need time to acclimatize. This music is pretty but really doesn't take me anywhere.

Yuma KAGIYAMA JPN skates his free to Romanza. He is a bit off axis today - jet lag most likely. He seems healthy and I love the full run through even with mistakes.
Yuma spent the past week in Toronto, so he wouldn't have any jet lag, but he was supposed to arrive in Boston on Sunday but had a cancelled flight and had to wake up at 4:00 on Monday to catch his flight. He skated really well in practice yesterday, but I'm guessing the chaos caught up to him a bit today.

I think Boyang has been out with a back injury, I don't remember where that came out. It was after Cup of China I think.

Tatsuya TSUBOI JPN skates his FS to I Pagliacci which is big music and I feel he needs to grow into in maturity. I would like to see him keep this music for next year. He is a big talent and pretty consistent - he just needs to find his skating identity and develop his skating skills a bit more.

The announcers are keeping a tight schedule - the second a skater stops the next is expected to be ready to start - too bad if your start position is on top of the guy who just finished.

Men SP or FS
Group 4 12:25-13:00

Vladimir LITVINTSEV AZE
Edward APPLEBY GBR
Lev VINOKUR ISR
Fedir KULISH LAT
Deniss VASILJEVS LAT
Kyrylo MARSAK UKR

Vladimir LITVINTSEV AZE has some problem with his GOT music for his run through and pops his jumps. He is also sporting a new? mustache. He gamely tries to get the most out of this session landing most everything else.

Edward APPLEBY GBR skates his FS in the brightest neon red jacket. He enjoys Rubik's cubes. Some powerful music - Sand Wick, Excommunicado and John Wick Mode by Tyler Bates, Joel J. Richard and Le Castle Vania. Very intense. My connection just died thanks to family rebooting without warning.

I'm still scratching my head this season wondering what has happened to Yuma's 3A. The stability hasn't been there and still isn't, even in practice. Hopefully he can kick it in when it counts this week. Love the long program.
