2025 World Championships Gala Exhibition

I see people complaining about Peacock all the time ... so my question is why do they keep using it. xD Ok, I know that this streaming service has a lot to offer but I think one can watch Worlds on YT without VPN in most countries.
Good question. You can watch "Wicked" or "The Americas" with Tom Hanks and a bunch of other things during the winter without commericals for not alot of money. When YOU want. Peacock works most of the time and you can bookmark skates. I got a free VPN with Chrome but it will nag you to upgrade. Proton used to have an easy free minimul VPN, Then they wanted 10 bucks a month for an upgrade which can be useful during skating season. Then they started double billing me...it took a month to cancel and get that straightened out. (Based in Switzerland).

I keep using Peacock because last time I tried a VPN I messed up. I might not have done the VPN right. So I had to cancel it. I could try again, but I need a VPN that is super user friendly. Suggestions welcome. And the ISU website geoblocks the U.S.
One, practice with any VPN you get. Proton is super user friendly (Hey, even I can work it) but its $10 a month. The Chrome free VPN extension does the Neatherlands and its pretty easy to understand once you get it downloaded from the Chrome store.

I didn’t expect that from ilia.
It was a bit long but when I saw his reaction- 😢 skaters on the plane trained at his club and he is close to max.
He’s a young kid with tough emotions on a huge stage. I was glad skating gave him an outlet to let them out finally.
It could easily have been his parents or little sister as well. It will only help to skate it out.

Chris, do you have to leave it on or is it easy to turn on and off just for skating?

I think both are easy to turn off and on. You may find that Proton may automatically connect on computer bootup, but their email customer service dept is very good so there may be a way to stop that. Mine would connect to the USA on bootup. But two mouse clicks and its off. And it may well offer some hacking protection even connecting to the country I am in. I cant remember about Chrome extension but its just a tiny icon in the upper right of Chrome and its easy to toggle. And you can delete it or add it at will. IIRC it may nag you to upgrade to the paid script. My laptop is used only for figure skating unless someone with a back hoe cuts a fiber optic cable, then I take it to the gym.

I see a lot of frustrations vented about Peacock. And I have my own frustrations. But I assume NBC/Peacock supplied all the equipment and the camera operators for the TV coverage from Boston. I especially appreciated the coverage from the practice rink which we don't normally see. Thank you Peacock.(y)

I was communicating with the cust service rep at Peacock on Twitter and they didn't have the missing first part of the gala livestream so they told me they will only have the replay of when it first picked up after the snafu started. Someone fell asleep at the livestream wheel. Now I'm off to test VPNs (thanks for the recs all!), but they won't be needed again until next season LOL

The practice footage and the commentary was so interesting

Curious. Is CBC commercial free?
Live streams - see two commercials when you start or re-start after a pause. None thereafter.

TV - definitely no. As many commercials as any other Canadian TV (a few minutes less per hour as US TV, but pretty similar to something like NBC).

No excuse for not starting the stream...can you imagine what would happen if they started a golf/b ball/football game 15 min late??? Peacock's raison d'etre is sports......dont forget Team challange cup.
