Here are my practice notes compiled throughout the day from the men - I couldn't watch the entire time, but here are some of the things I noticed.
Wow, I am not reading that essay! Can you give me the TLDR in regards to my predictions?
Everyone was a little messy, but the men don't compete until Thursday so they're a little looser here and just trying to get their feet under them. Shun Sato looked very strong, and Yuma Kagiyama had a few jump errors in his runthrough but overall is skating far cleaner in practice than earlier in the season. Adam Siao Him Fa struggled with his quads, but I'm not sure if it was normal Adam struggle or not. Junhwan had a rough practice, but stated to the media afterwards that he's feeling fine and ready to go. I think Andrew Torgashev and Nikolaj Memola are definitely going to be top-10 threats if the skate as well as they did in practice - both had really impressive showings, especially Nikolaj.

Kevin marks the jumps for his SP - his skating quality is sooooo good. He nearly had me in tears with his step sequence - I so hope he has a good Worlds. He seems to be struggling a bit with the 4T but managed to land a few cleanly by the end of practice. Adam Siao Him Fa marks his quads - his 3A is a little squirrely, but he looks better in practice than he did last year, which is a very good sign. He lands just over half of his quads - there are a couple falls, but overall, he is looking solid-ish - I could see him really skating up in competition thanks to the audience. Aleksandr Vlasenko has music issues - now, he's just using his phone to play the music. I remember back in the day when they had to use a CD for the music... how the times have changed. Donovan looks strong - his opening 4S looked good in the air but had a stepout, and his second was very nice - he was able to put in combination with a 3T. He struggled with his 3Lzs, but otherwise seems to be in good shape, and successfully drills his 3Lzs after his music ends. Andreas Nordeback marks all of his jumps, but he has such a gorgeous program - I really love the choreography and the build of his music.
G2
More marked jumps from Semen Daniliants - I remember when he was a little boy just barely scraping into the FS at Junior Worlds... he's improved so much since then, even if this cover of
Creep is not my favourite. Jari Kessler is such a gorgeous skater - even with marked jumps, this program is wonderful watch. There are so many unique choreographic transitions throughout. Nikita Starostin marks his opening 3As, but the rest of his triples look solid - he has very nice jumps when they're landed cleanly. Junhwan Cha struggles a bit with some of the jumps, although he lands a nice 3A. I'm really impressed with the increase in speed at the end of the program, and I love the nuances in the choreographic step - there is so much thoughtful musicality in this program. He had a lot of issues with the 4S - knowing Jun, he could be dealing with an injury, fatigue, equipment issues, or all three, but he just looked off all session. Hyungyeom Kim looks solid - he falls on his opening 4T but his other triples look solid. No Vladimir Samoilov on this practice.
G3
Interesting to see that Lori Nichol is here with Yuma's team - she and Carolina Kostner are talking with each other by the boards, while Masakazu Kagiyama looks on. Maurizio Zandron positively towers over all the other skaters in this group

. He marks most of his SP, which is a nice program - he has a lot of passion. Daiwei Dai does a gorgeous 4T and hangs on to a massive 3Lz - he has the same coach as Han Yan, and his skating has so much quality. He has one of the best 3As in this event, although he stepped out here. Yuma starts his program with a stepout on the 4F, but looks to be in solid shape overall - a lovely 4S and 4T+3T, a couple of other jump errors but overall the jumps look far more confident than earlier in the season. The poor kid had a cancelled flight from Toronto and had to wake up at 4:00 to catch a flight a day later, so it's certainly been a chaotic start to the week for Yuma. Shun is next - it's been a messy second half of the season for him. He starts out strong with the 4Lz, but doubles the flip. He bounces back with a lovely 4T+3T - hopefully he has shaken off whatever plagued him at Nationals and the University Games. So far, he's had one of the strongest runthroughs of all of the men - just the error with the flip, everything else was nicely done. Tatsuya is up next - he opens up with a strong 4S+3T but doubles out on the second sal attempt. Two lovely 3As to follow - overall, the Japanese men are looking far more secure than the women in this first practice.
G4
Vladimir Litvintsev seems to be having a good time - he intentionally triples his quads, and seems very relaxed throughout his runthrough. Edward Appleby seems a little nervy, popping quite a few jumps - it will be so critical for him to make the free program here, as it will go a long ways in helping GB with the Team Event at Milano 2026. The jumps that he does land are very lovely, he has a nice held running edge. Dennis has some music issues - he does a little dance while we're waiting, and then we wait some more. His posture and choreography are so gorgeous, and he covers every inch of the rink. He triples the 4S and is a touch short on his 3Lz, with most of the other jumps marked. His music came to a crescendo right as poor Kyrylo Marsak (aka Kyril Marso, according to the announcer) took an epic barrel-roll fall. He is marking most of his jumps as well, but he has really improved in his choreography and attention to the music. He does a really lovely 3A+2A+2A+SEQ, but almost sits down on the second 3A. His program is nice, aside from the random gunshot and voiceovers (I'm not sure that sound effect is the best considering which country this event is taking place in).
G5
A solid practice from Roman, definitely a mixed bag outing for Lukas - he's recovering from surgery and just seemed to struggle with some of the jumps.
G6
Really impressed with Nikolaj - he seems to be going for 3/4 quads and landed two 4Lzs and a 4F in his runthrough. Definitely a top 10 threat.
G7
All marked for Mihhail, and a good skate from Andrew but I know he's struggled with some back issues in the past so I hope he's not dealing with anything major, he did seem to be in pain at the end of his dynamic runthrough. Ilia and Jason normally skip practices, so I'm not worried - they'll probably show up for the MR session this afternoon.
