2025 World Championships Practice Reports

Who knows maybe - I thought Raf didn't travel - sorry but I am that tired...I'm leaving now cause I'm getting it all wrong as what's his name says...see you tomorrow
It's definitely Raf, Jackie has already talked with him, and apparently at the time, Jackie was in an awkward place next to a trash can because that's where the power outlet was.

In other news, one of the reporters on site noted that Alysa tried a 3A and fell on it at then end of practice in the Garden.

Jean-Luc Baker and Jackie Wong to commentate Pairs Practice in the Main Rink. Jean-Luc loves the nearly 360 windows to the outside in the practice rink.
Me too! In a slow moment, Jean-Luc said he loved the way the sun was shining across the ice ... then we got to see it!

A man after my own heart 😎

Sorry not sorry if I missed your favorites and screwed up details - its hard being the only one commenting solo for 12 hours when I know darn well others are watching as well and leaving me with all the heavy lifting. After 12 hours, I just LOOOVE all the critiques too! I think I'll try the silent thing myself tomorrow and save my energy for the actual events. Good night

Well, that's perfectly understandable. Sorry I complained. I wasn't watching at all except for the last group and a little of Trennt and Lia. If I'd been here, I'd have been commenting too.

Gabbie Izzo and her new partner skate to the dreaded POTO, leading Jean Luc to reminisce about how he had always wanted to skate to it but whenever he’d suggest it, Kaitlin would stare him down and declare, “You’re no Charlie White!” So they never did it.

I can just picture it, Kaitlin’s expression and delivery. And now, having heard that, I am going to be using that line whenever anyone is foolish enough to choose POTO, starting immediately.

Jean-Luc and Jackie agree that the U.S. has two very strong teams, in Alisa & Misha, and Ellie and Danny.

Jean-Luc talked about Alisa and Misha's earlier partnerships, and then he said that what is wondrously amazing is when two experienced partners skate with someone new, forming a new partnership, and something has transformed, you've had "no idea that they could do what they're doing now" , concerning everything including performance. I'm paraphrasing wildly. ... but it's exactly how I feel about Alisa and Misha. Also ... that they're re-creating an old style pair skating, which is raw and powerful.

One of them mentioned Alisa reminds some people of Katia Gordeeva. They both agreed ... for one thing Alisa looks like Katia. I've heard people scoff when this was said, but it's true, and not just her looks, it's how she uses her head positions and arms, her posture.

I watched the pairs practice only off and on but it occurs to me, I definitely did not see Vaipan-Law/Digby, who I know had a luggage problem. Please tell me they got their luggage, and did not have to withdraw!

Ana got one of her missing bags at the same time as Annika Hocke got hers. I don't know about the other. I had been wondering the same thing about their missed practice...

Listening again, Jean-Luc said while talking about Alisa and Misha ... "wow, had no idea how good they could be until they got together."

Jackie agreed and talked about their almost old-school style of pairs skating. (Exactly what I've been saying and what I love so much about them.)

This practice was the second practice session for pairs of the day, and a couple of teams skipped.

I have been scrolling through various social media and haven't seen anything about them for that first practice, but that also doesn't mean anything.

I have appreciated every single word you have taken the time to write. I have read them all. Some of them more than once. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Ignore the critics. Again, there are those of us here who are very grateful for every word you take the time to write.

USFS is debuting more of its notorious “fun” promo videos during the breaks. The most cringey asks Jason Brown to pronounce Massachusetts place names which are pretty obvious if you are reasonably familiar with Native American and British sources; unfortunately, poor Jason is not.
There is also one with Chock & Bates about costumes and—gee!—did you know she contributes to their costume design? Did you know they were married?
If not—what rock have you been living under :)
The worst one is still poor Andrew picking his nose on FaceTime.

Sorry. I was not watching and did not start watching until pairs was over - I rewound it.

Thank you for your work.
