2026-27 Canadian Figure Skating

Jazzy and Kiki are the names they use. In one of Anthony Paradis's YouTube videos, Jazmine introduced herself as Jazzy and someone called Kiernan Kiki. Jazzy and Kiki is better than anything fans could make up.
yes, that's right... except that we had been using these names before that YouTube video... so who did it first ? :). LOL US or THEM ?

In this document for JGP/Junior International Selection criteria for 2026-27, they list the JGP spots - https://skatecanada.ca/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/2026-Selection-to-JGP-and-Jr-Int-Comp-EN.pdf

They have Men as being 5 spots and Women as 5 spots when it should be 6 and 4 respectively based on the placements, according to the 2025-26 announcement. The ISU hasn't published the 2026-27 JGP announcement that would have the spot allocations yet, so I have no idea if this is Skate Canada making a mistake or the ISU changed the rules.
It may be that somewhere handed back some women's spots and one of them was allocated to you. I can't explain men's, though, unless there has been a rule change.

By the allocation rules for Singles and Ice Dance, it's only group B (1 spot in 7 events) that can pick up additional spots. They shouldn't have picked up the additional spot for Women by the 2025-26 rules. Canada was group B for Ice Dance, so those 13 spots make sense.

Start orders for Lake Placid Figure Skating Championships are up - https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2026/37055/index.asp

Senior Men - David Bondar and David Shteyngart (Jonathon Moravec entered for the free Skate only)

Senior Women - Reese Rose, Camille Perreault, Coralie Plante, Sara-Kim Begin

Junior Pairs - Oreshkin/Furman

Junior Men - Rui Qin and Colton Moness (Elliot Cosette entered for the free only)

Junior Women - Emily Chaikin, Mila Marleau, Tea Hebert, Chantelle Elizabeth Chipilo, Sophia Mekki

Thank you for this. Lots of novice entries too from Canada! So glad to see Rui Qin back competing. I know he struggled last year and didn't compete at Ontario Sectionals (injured?). He has a great presence on ice so looking forward to his programs this year - actually everybody's programs. Feels like Christmas :)

So... here is an ice dance breakdown

LaLe = Lauriault Le Gac
F/Z= Fournier-Zhu
RoPo = Robinson-Portz
Bakerie (or LaBakerie for those who insist on putting articles everywhere :) ) = Lajoie-Baker
Spa = Sandrine Gauthier and Paul Ayer
Alicia's Nose = Alicia and Marko. Okay.. I am kidding about the last one. :) Let's call them AlMa (soul)
FWIW I’ve always referred to Lauriault/LeGac as the Panthers, in honor of their iconic Pink Panther program.

I do like SPA for Gauthier/Ayer!

I hadn't realised Reese was moving up to seniors internationally. I think she would have benefitted from more international experience at junior level because she has struggled in international events despite doing well in many home ones.

It's a domestic competition, so it matches her domestic level. I think she's staying Junior internationally since she is on NextGen, but she is eligible for Seniors now.

@4everchan, didn't we discuss Thierry Ferland as a potential new partner for Deanna? Well, at least he's coming back to competition
indeed. He is one of the few male partners in Canada strong enough for Deanna. But I guess it won't happen.

Well... I am actually not surprised they are back together LOL. They were fun. SBS jumps were an issue for Lori-Ann but I am glad that they are realizing that they can skate together no matter the issues as long as they are happy with that.

Took them 3 years :)

Very happy for them.

Fee Ann’s 3F 3T< was a shock to me at 4CC.

Reese’s 3F 3T got negative GOE. But, wow!! Our Canadian Ladies are getting stronger. She would have made a solid case for herself for a JGP spot, had she not doubled the lutz. The most important single jump for this season.

Also, David combo is 👏
A shame he only added a double toe on his next combo though 🤐

I used to compare the scores to the 166 and 219 benchmarks. I have no idea what a good score is anymore….

Also, shout out to Miroslava and Vladimir in junior pairs SP. An attempted triple twist. This team needs to be added to NextGen now 👏

The 2A landed single jump is easy for them. Only a 2Lo throw though. But, this team looks promising for two JGP events.

Miroslava is a talented singles skater capable of 2A, 3S and 3Lo single jumps. She finished 7th in PreNovice Nationals in 2025 and 12th in Novice Nationals in 2026. She stood out to me with her 3Lo at Skate Trophy. Too bad there is no free skate to see what jumps they would attempt together.

Vladimir had the easier triples too when he skated singles
