Hey everyone! Since the season is wrapping up, I figured it’s a good time to talk about next year. Does anyone know which competitions have been announced yet or where they might be held? I’d love to start getting some trips on the calendar 🤭

It is a little early to know dates, only some ISU championships in 2027 have been announced:
Euros(jan 25-3, Lausanne SUI),
JWC( feb 22-28, Sofia, BUL), and
WC( mar 15-21, Tampere, FIN) have been announced.

And from the GPs in 2026:
Skate America oct 22-25, Everett, Washington
Skate Canada International oct 30- nov 1, Kelowna, BC

Most competiotion dates will only be available after the Ordinary ISU Congress in June, I think

What I'm wondering is, there was talk originally of Finland alternating hosting a GP and hosting a Challenger. But so far, there has only been GP Finlandia Trophy, and no Finlandia Challenger. Does anyone has any info on this? Has the original plan been scrapped in favor of keeping the GP?

I've heard from a Japanese fan that Kinoshita has applied to host a Challenger in Japan again next season because last year was a success. But AFAIK, it's not been confirmed yet.

Does anyone have any rumors or clues about the date of the NHK Trophy this year?
So far we have three GPs announced:
Skate America oct 22-25, Everett, Washington
Skate Canada International oct 30- nov 1, Kelowna, BC
GPdF Angers Nov 13-15

(I assumed that GPdF would be second to last but that won't work...assuming SkAm is the first GP...)

Weekends without a GP so far - possible dates for NHK:
(Oct 16-18)
Nov 6-8
Nov 20-22
Nov 27-29

If they want a gap between the last GP and the Final, the Final would have to take place in the second week of December...

But like I said, that only works if SkAm is the first GP. Maybe there'll be one before that...

Last year - was it also 2024? - Finland gave up bidding CS because they got GP. I cannot find the announcement, but it was something like this that Finland will in the future try either GP or CS, not both, and it will be called Finlandia Trophy, was it CS or GP. Reason is mostly money - people do not buy tickets to both and sometimes there is not enough volunteers for both. I think befeore worlds CS would be better and maybe also at Tampere, as the smaller hall there is easy to get because there is not big national ice hockey games any more. That's my opinion mostly because skaters may want to explore the city beforehand the worlds. CS 2016 was success in amount of skaters just for that reason - the arena was different and different town but in Helsinki area anyway.

I think the most likely order (based on history and non-Olympic year) is:
Skate America
Skate Canada
GP Europe
GP France
GP China
NHK
one week off
Final

But that's just a guess that fits with historical scheduling and minimizing travel.

According to Finland's feds competition calendar
Gps are:

October 23-25 USA
October 30-November 1 Canada
November 6-8 China
November 13-15 France
November 20-22 Finland, Helsinki
November 27-29 Japan
Final: November 11-14 China

I edited this after noticing they all are there. I don't know if it was public information, but it was there and I found it by accident when I tried to find out if there are any reservation for CS or GPs in timing.

I will see, I probably have something else in Helsinki on that Saturday or next one. Probably I will skip this time and save money for Nordics and Worlds.

Due to the ISU news announced today, I will not be following 2026/27 figure skating season. My willingness and capacity to support ISU has been exhausted by its actions.
What news and do we have a thread to discuss some of the new changes for next season??

Anyone can post news as it comes out :) There is no one particular thread, per se. However, if ISU puts out a bunch of changes, like Congress communications, that would be posted as it has in the past.
