ISU Communication No. 2786

The ISU has released the Scale of Values and Program Components Factors for the 2026-27 season.

This Communication replaces ISU Communication 2707

Interesting. After reading both articles I have the feeling this is (partly) what many of us have been asking for: a clearer seperation between BV and GOE (not the better known skaters automatically getting the highest GOE for jumps and even bad spins), clearer distinction between components (not automatically when one component is high, others also get higher even if that is not correct).

I hope it works out as intended, but I forsee judging shenagans being judging shenagans, just different ones than before. Still, personally I like it that quality will get more focus. I wonder about ID though....will there be a communication on that too? Just wondering.

It will certainly be a "learning-curve" for the judges who have been around for a while. Or should I say "challenge"?

Do we know yet what the technical minimums will be for Junior Worlds, Euros/4CC, and senior Worlds?

I am happy to see this (on pg.16):

Poor take-off: For example a toe-assisted jump is taken off from the full blade, Toe Loop is executed like a Toe Axel, the take-off to Salchow is assisted with the free foot on the ice or there is excessive rotation on the ice at the take-off. The reduction in GOE is -2 to -4 and the maximum starting GOE is +2.

Finally some accountability on prerotation and blade stomping.

Also falls are now severely punished both in TES and PCS. An element with a fall get automatic -5 GOE, and the max PCS for those with two falls are 8.75.
