2026 Canadian Nationals : Junior Women

Wow... we all knew she was going to win, but I have to say I found this to be her most powerful and convincing performance so far in her career- not just jump wise, but she really sold the choreography, and I felt that she filled the ice up more than usual. I really, really hope that she doesn't become a casualty of the puberty monster, because she really does have lots of other qualities along with her ability to rotate.

fabulous skate by Lia. I hope she has a very slow and steady growth and doesn't lose her jumps. It's not perfect technique so I am a bit worried.
She’s a lovely skater but when the hormones come in to effect & growth can make huge difference & changes

Lia (😍😍😍) you boss Queen!!!
She was flying during her warm up. The confidence she has in her skating is remarkable at such a young age.

Without the worry of going for the 3A, she was able to focus on her performances in both the SP and FP. I actually enjoyed the FP for the first time this season. 199.60 minus 3 bonus points puts her at 196.60. She is so good that she can contend with the Koreans and Japanese Junior Girls. I’m so proud of her. She attained a score goal range she wanted to reach this season with this performance 😜

Victoria - I’m glad she skated cleanly. The 171 score will put her in contention for the JWC spot. Like someone mentioned earlier, she reminds me of Uliana. Solid jumper, but, so much lacking in terms of presentation and skating skills. After Ksenia, Quinn, Calissa, and Megane skated, she skated a whole level lower than these girls. I think skating after Victoria actually helped Lia get the high scores she got in PCS. The difference is huge.

Quinn is a star ⭐
Love her so much and she landed that 2A eu 3S she missed at Challenge

Calissa - So close. Another 4th place. It would have been nice to see her finally podium

Those four girls exceeded the 155 domestic benchmark.

Megane - She started crying after her results were posted. This girl suffers so much with skating. I need her to do better next season. I always root for girls that suffer

Real strong again from Lia. Crazy to think she still isnt eligible for olympics until literally next olympics? ( or is it the next one after! ) Victoria looks great too. Needs to work on some of that PCS but has that distinct russian style. That is super evident. Canada ladies looks very promising in next 4 years!

Megane......, breaks my heart she is such a beautiful skater with so much speed and talent. Unfortunately sometimes her free program lets her down. Her skill is remarkable and her maturity and experience in these competitions truly shine and I had hoped for more for her this time.

Victoria has some great tricks but no emotion, no show! Skates from element to element without drawing in her audience. I want to see the beauty of the sport with the tricks combined. Figure skating is so beautiful and I believe our top contenders for Canada need to have the full package to compete on the international ice surface and stand out!

Calissa definitely showed up this year and showed some amazing strength and skill. The way she moves to her music on the ice, in each of her programs, is truly captivating! Her power and performance definitely had her deserving that bronze over Quinn if I had been on that panel! I do feel Quinn has potential as she matures and shows it in her performances with growth. However I do feel, here at this event, she was over-scored in a few of her elements. The point spread was minimal which had me confused and disappointed with the result, as Calissa was definitely the better performance to watch for a full package experience. I'm sad for Calissa that they didn't give her what she deserved at this competition, the bronze medal. Hopefully she will carry on and not let it get to her. Her improvement was so clear and she really was short changed at these Nationals!

Lia is just a vibe, even at such a young age she some how outperforms what one would expect from a child. Just flawless!!! I do hope she can keep it all together for many many years, as that is what it is going to take with the age requirements for Olympics. Will be 2034 for her...... Love her peppy little attitude and that smile that can be seen throughout the entire building. Congratulations kiddo!!!

Canada tho...... It would be so nice to see you reward your mature skaters and spend the time and use the resources to develop them for international contendership! Are we in competition with Russia for the youngest athletes or the world for the best athletes? Great athletes around the world are not 13 or even 16, great athletes are of mature age and it shows in everything they do out there. These little ones have years ahead of them and they need those years for development in their skill and speed to be competitive outside of Canada. We have amazing mature athletes like Reese, Calissa, Megane, Victoria, to name a few, who are either in, or have recently left the Junior circuit. These athletes are being somewhat sidelined to the young newer Junior skaters, where the focus seems to be. I am sorry but as a retired athlete and coach I think this is a poor decision from the association for longevity of our women in this sport for Canada.

If we want more spots internationally we need to send athletes who can perform to an international level, beyond having zero gravity in their bodies to hold onto landings in jumps!

Calissa happy with her performance, who cares about the falls! Salchows and toe loops are fake anyways.

And she breaks 100 in the free :jump3:
She was robbed by those judges, they made a big mistake not rewarding her with the placing she deserved! She outskated Quinn clearly
