Not the skate that Seniuk wanted but not a disaster. The stumble in the step sequences deprived her of a positive GOE on this element and it looked like she was tired by this point.

Very different music. Oh, now Kate Bush has arrived.

That just made me realise - I didn't check to see if we have any music from Yorkshire in this competition (Kate Bush is a Londoner).

Not bad.

I never noticed this before, but Maria looks so young! She looks more like 13 than turning 20 in a few months.

When you see her and Polina Tsurskaya together, you wouldn't believe there was only a 5 year age difference. (And that's even with Polina also looking younger than she is!)

Vanesa. Beautiful dress. Nice program. A few mistakes, but still a decent skate. But she needed 57.18 to get tech minimums.

No wonder the ISU want to reduce the free skate to 6 jumps.

Is it the surface though? Maybe all the visa hassle caused some of them a lot of stress? Or just demotivated being in Sheffield?

We finish the opening group with Vanesa SELMEKOVA (SVK).

She is wearing a pale blue dress. To be honest, I don't like it. The top half of it looks a mess.

I really love the music, though. And the skating was good too!

She's disappointed coming off the ice. When she went to hug her coach, she looked like she was about to start crying on his shoulder.

Fortunately, she wasn't when we came back from the replays.

She just shrugged her shoulders in acceptance that that was how it went.

She went into 2nd position in both the FS and overall.

She's happy now!
