Fair. C/Bs twizzles are their weakest element and I would have agreed if Carol mentioned that. However, if you notice they did almost cover the whole rink this time which is a big improvement over early in the season. Early in the season their twizzles were almost done at a stand still. I think they won the twizzles because unlike the other teams they had no visible error and they were faster than F/G. P/P should have won that element imho. The bobble in the pattern step did happen but it wasn't on a judged turn which is why they weren't punished.
it should have been punished on GOE.
I like P/Ps program. I just don't think it works for Paul because he is too proper. I think we all agree that biased judging is a bigger issue than biased commentary. I just think there are a lot of other former ice dancers who could give more balanced commentary. But, this sport is not a beacon of fairness in the world and I still watch it because i love it so...it is what it is.
Well, I love Kaytlin Weaver's commentary. But she is biased too :)

I think commentators for dance are in a bit of a pickle... if they call it true, then they are just confirming that the fix is in :)

Well done fantastic skates all.
Do we know which dance team will skate in FD without final score . They skate tomorrow after men.
NBC did not due a great explaination of the use of subs in two disiplines in the free....its a bit of a sticky wicket if they let Ilia and C and B skate twice as it keeps medals out of the hands of others so that cant be true....

The scores of this event were not the tea. High GOE with the sloppy mistakes on elements - and 9.5/9.75s for nervous skates was ridiculous.

I’ve liked C/B programs of the past (their Daft Punk FD is one of my all time faves conceptually and so original) but OMG that A-meh-rican Woman RD is so painfully generic - and thematically/stylistically lacking anything interesting or any point of view. Seasons best with a glaring error on the PSt (that got mainly +4s?!). Barf. Augh they and the French would still win silver/gold even if they stumble/fall (Americans first with a stumble here… French 2nd with a FD fall the GPF)… really not fair (but ice dancing, what else is new). And before people say it I don’t actually think G/P lit it up either… everyone seemed nervous save for the Brits (but twizzles needed to be scored less), and I quite enjoyed the Italians too.

Lenny Kravitz juxtaposed next to the fabulosity and fun of RuPaul, Madonna, Spice Girls, and BSB, is just an unseasoned potato salad of an otherwise spicy top 5.

Watching the replay with the call from Johnny and Tracy Wilson, because that’s the only Peacock option right now.

ETA: With a shout out to JD Vance in the audience. Oh dear

Omg what?! They gave him a shoutout?

Lol not one of the worst administrations for queer people getting the privilege of live-seeing three of the gayest figure skating routines of all time. 😂

Hi everyone! I'm trying to catch up on the yesterday's event (from Canada), and I'm co confused about the CBC coverage - the commentators talk through ALL of the programs non-stop, and the music is on so distant a background that you can't hear it at all. Anyone knows if there's any other available stream to use? Seems completely unwatchable as it is, co confusing! Also, happy Olympics!

I watched the RD again and I really find it hard that CB and Guillaume and Laurence scoreed so high.Maybge they shoudl be 1 and 2 but no not so high and the Brits are them ost entertaining but this is a competition Sorry they had no business beig third here. Really findit unfaire andhave no idea why Piper and Paul are "hated" so much. I fear Piper and Paul will get or are discoursgted and wo't skate at worlds after this. They look like we are done. They just aren't good aat marketing Stuck with their programs now Paul should be really sellng the RD andPiper should change her fs dress. They need to gve packated beter and sell their programs. Confdidentce and elegance.

To be correct, I wouldn't call it a shoutout - more of an acknowledgement from Terry Gannon that he and his family were present at the event. I did see that his motorcade delayed Alysa Liu's bus ride to the arena and she almost didn't make it in time for her event.

Hi Rere! Welcome!
What country are you based in so we can give you some sources available for you?
Calling on Canadian's - can you provide some suggestions?

Are you sure it was a glaring error - all 9 judges seem to have missed it
I saw it too.. it wasn't a huge mistake but enough to lower GOE. My guess is that perhaps we had a different angle than what the judges saw. It wasn't on a required turn so the pattern didn't get a lowered level but there was a bobble. What bugs me is that some teams do get away with these mistakes and some teams do not.

Hi! I'm a longtime reader on this forum and a first-time poster. I've tried to figure out how to distinguish between levels in the pattern dance and step sequences but am failing in a major way. Can anyone tell me if the current tech panel is doing a decent job and why/why not? They didn't seem too bad at the Grand Prix Final but so far the scoring here is going a different way.

Thanks so much! :)

I'm interested in what she said? I've always found her fair, but I don't have access to her commentary this year. What did she say were their relatives strengths and weaknesses?
Tracy spoke of Piper and Paul's closeness of skating and synchronicity to music. For today's RD, she spoke of their outstanding twizzles and terrific choreography at the end. For the Brits, she emphasized their theatric moves and great enegry. She really praised Lewis skating skills. But interestingly, today, she did not offer many weaknesses. She even questioned the Brits lower marks in the twizzles when Lila's bobble at the end seemed pretty obvious.
And just like that we can see the writing on the wall. Fear and Gibson will get bronze. Canada is going home medalless and I am guessing piper and paul just might retire here and not go to worlds being so discouraged. I am not saying Chock and BAtes shouldn't be firt second or third but that was pretty generous considering their lack of speed. The judges were harsh on Piper and Paul but that will be needed to keep them away from the bronze. It's clear its over for Piper and Paul. Ihope someone will remembeer this post and please Piper and Paul don't give up and please go to worlds. I know it is discouraging. I think they have been unfairly dropped. They could do better technically but they did enough to earn thrid here. I agree the Brits are the most entertaining but that should not be the key to a medal. But you can tell they want the Brits third. I wonder what would happen if P squared were coached by IAM. FB / C were delightful. And Fear and Gibson are definitely the crowd pleaser. But this 90's theme is not my favourite and honestly tiresome. Maybe we need the compulory dance again to focus on ice dance. i appreciate these men are fit and usually slim but showing their arms all the time is note aesthetically pleasing ofhen as they look small compared to the ladies. a better design might be sleeves. You look "fuller" stronger, bigger. But minor detail.
I am getting a different message. I think the Canadians have a chance of bronze and I am cheering for them.
