2026 U.S. Nationals Practice Reports

Checking into women's practice - Alyssa has a new hair highlights..
when I try to screenshot - I just get a black screen (stupid Peacock)
She has given herself a gold halo made of highlights is my best description
She also has leopard printed tights.

Alyssa carries herself with the confidence of Katarina Witt -I haven't really seen anyone else skate with that kind of diva-ness in a long time. She demands you watch her.

Timestamped to Alysa - check out her halo?

It was so great to hear Jackie and Jean-Luc gush over Jason, as well they ought. :)
He looked ok. Basically in shape, but the 3As within the FS were a bit wonky despite landing good ones outside the runthrough. He spent a good time after the runthrough clearly doing mental exercises as he skated around. That FS still isn't resonating, which worries me. But hopefully, when he's actually center ice and competing, it will break out. He's ready for this. He looks ok. But as Jackie and JLB agreed, he's not locked yet. At least not in the FS. He's put a load on himself.

Alysa’s newly dyed hair. Not my thing but then I’m old and out of it LOL.

I may be in the minority here, but I love Jason’s free skate. I thought it looked really good in practice today with the exception of a few bobbles. I was mesmerized watching it.
It does look good overall. It was clean, but seemed just a bit cautious yesterday. I didn't see the good 3As that Jackie reported, but the 3As in the runthrough were a little off. He seemed to be visualizing all of that while he skated around the rink. I think he's mentally and physically prepared. Now he's working on conquering any nerve concerns that he might have. The Free is mesmerizing. I agree. His skating is beautiful and this program shows that. I just wish there was more energy in it. Jason found his voice. Let it ring out! It can be quiet energy. But it needs to communicate more energy and confidence. I know that he has it. I feel like he's holding it in. Practice is not really predictive. He just got to St Louis and he's probably conserving energy. That's totally understandable. He needs it for the actual competition. And that may be the strategy. Work on the details, save the performance for the event. It's not a bad strategy. He knows what he's doing. He's very focused.

Labgoat, if you have a chance, stop over to the section closest to the skaters' entrance during the practice sessions. If would be nice to meet you!
