2025 Mexico Cup is set to take place May 15-17, 2025, in Queretaro City, Mexico, at the Lakeside Icepark. Skaters in the Singles discipline (Women and Men) in the Novice, Junior and Senior categories will compete.

The event will be conducted in accordance with the ISU Constitution and General Regulations, ISU Special Regulations & Technical Rules for Single & Pair Skating, and relevant ISU Communications.

Wow! I was expecting all the entrants for this event to be skaters that are based in the Americas. So, I'm impressed that there are a few from further afield:

  • Victoria ALCANTARA (AUS) in Senior Ladies
  • Mya Li POE (TPE) in Senior Ladies
  • Vasilisa BOGOMOLOVA (CYP) in Junior Ladies

Well done to them for making the effort (assuming they do compete). :bow: :clap: :points:

The other skaters representing countries that are outside the Americas are actually all based in North America.

Just realised that there is an Interclub part of the event. This part is named the Mexican Open, and it started on Saturday! 😲 So, two days of the event have already been completed! :drama:

This part of the event includes Senior Ice Dance, where Harlow STANLEY SALINAS / Seiji URANO are the only entries; and Senior Solo Dance, where Fatima GOMEZ SANDOVAL is the only entry. But, their competitions do not start until Thursday.

On a more general note, this event could be a real challenge for the skaters taking part.

Although not as high as México City (2,240m), the altitude of Santiago de Querétaro (1,820m) is pretty much the same as the altitude of Colorado Springs (1,839m). And we have seen skaters that are used to skating nearer to sea level really struggling to breathe at lots of competitions in Colorado Springs over the years.

So, I hope they have all been preparing themselves for the altitude.

I have to say, for somebody who has not been able to watch LIVE (due to it being at the time I am in bed sleeping), the streaming has been a nightmare. I have been finding it so hard to work out what is on each video. On Monday, I tried to add the links for the archived livestreams from the weekend to the table in the OP, but because of sound issues I had no idea what competitions the skaters being shown were from. So, I gave up.

My apologies for any inconvenience this has caused.

Right, I'm off to watch how my kid Vasilisa got on! (Thank goodness she is easy to find, as she was the penultimate skater to go at the end of Day 7).

Mmmm. Interesting that they decided to do one long stream for all the Junior and Senior competitions last night. But, it has backfired, as the archived stream has now been zapped due to a copyright claim from Kirbyko Music LLC. (I had never come across that particular record company before).

The worst of it is, the stream was still available when I got up this morning, and I got it into position for watching Vasilisa. But then I decided to write a birthday greeting for one of my now-retired kids. And by the time I had finished that, it was time for breakfast. So, I bookmarked that point of the video, switched off the computer, and got ready. And when I switched the computer back on there now to watch her before the World Superbikes come on, the stream was gone.

That'll teach me!

Also was trying to watch it again but sadly the typical problem in YouTube, copyrights issues. Annoying thing really.

You don't by any chance know what Vasilisa Bogomolova (CYP) was skating to in the FS, do you? I'm just curious to know whether she was debuting two new programmes, or just a new SP.

Although she didn't have a good start to her performance of it on Friday, I really love this "I Got Rhythm" SP already.

By the way, I don't know if the Podium Ceremonies were being shown on the livestreams, but Vasilisa's Mum has uploaded a video of the Junior Ladies Podium Ceremony to Instagram:
