"Belbin, Agosto Win Skate America Title"

That's the title of the Yahoo! sports article written just over an hour ago. According to the article below, Belbin & Agosto have already won Skate America. The problem is that the Free Dance doesn't take place until TOMORROW! Hello! Anyone actually covering the event that knows something about the sport??

Also, you will note that the amazing Miki Ando is the first woman to "land a triple jump in competition." Really? That's news to me!

By the time you read this, they may have rectified their error... but it was really funny to read.

This is hillarious!!!!

I don't know much about figure skating, but maybe I have a future in journalism after all. And I thought weather forecasting was the perfect job - where you could be wrong all the time and still be gainfully employed LOL!

But I did like this part of the article:

"Ando admitted she was nervous because American crowds tend to react to skaters' expressions.

"Being here, I felt like other people gave me courage, saying they like my smile, and the audience is very nice, and it encouraged me," Ando said."

That's interesting, because one of the criticisms of Miki's performnces (and to a certain extent, of Shizuka's, too), is that they don't connect emotionally with the (American) audiences so well. Maybe with Michelle and Sasha out the Pittsburgh audience was ready to embrace this rising star.

Anyway, I'm glad to see it.

I saw that too, and I was like "wait a minute, I thought it was the men and ladies' tonight... perhaps I'm wrong", and I double checked the schedule. I should have known there was something off when they said Miki was the first to land a triple combination :p

I noticed that they've corrected the ice dance title and article. Too bad--it was so funny!

But the original story was picked up and repeated in my morning newspaper today.

When I clicked on it a few minutes ago, it still said Miki Ando is the first woman to "land a triple jump in competition.":rolleye:

Who's this new AP reporter? Barry Wilner and Nancy Armour have been the AP skating reporters. They aren't great, but at least they're better than this goof ball.:rolleye:

Whaddya want from ESPN? Remember they think poker is a sport worth televising over and over and over... or is that they think poker is a sport at all :sheesh:

Assuming that ESPN is mainly run by men....

Don't ALL men think *POKER* is a sport???

Poker is really big right now, I'm not saying that it is a "sport" persay... just that it probably brings them a big audience. Shows like "celebrity poker showdown" are springing up all over the place.
