Advice about seating at worlds?

Hi everyone - Boston Worlds 2025 is going to be my first live FS competition, and I was a bit confused/late/clueless/broke when I bought my tickets and ended up in the top row of the central balcony sections - basically about as high up as you can get. Was wondering if anyone has any advice on how to make the most of that experience, or if the far distance is a real problem (to the point of not being able to see what the skaters are doing)? Also if anyone has had any experience getting better tickets closer to the comp? My tickets are insured, so if a better deal comes along, I could try to cancel and re-buy.

Welcome to Golden Skate. My nephews have gone to the Garden for many sport events and I was told there is not a bad seat at the Garden.
In 2016 Worlds I had high balcony seat, and it was fine.

Welcome @aflack. I am in Section 319, which is an upper level seat. I sat on that same level.for the 2016 Worlds, and it was fine. The only thing you lose by sitting higher up is some of the facial expressions (at least for me). There is a Jumbo-tron where you can watch, if you want the close up view. And they replay parts of the program (usually) while the skaters wait for their scores. I would keep your tickets.

My ideal seat would be the 100 level in about the 10th to 12th rows. That's what I want, but my wallet disagrees! Way too expensive for me!...Hope you have a wonderful time!

Adding: Please feel free to ask any questions. I was at that arena in 2014 for Nationals too (on the 300 level).

Thank you both for your responses @Arriba627 and @Jeanie19! I'm looking forward to attending my first live comp and will definitely go - do either of you know if there is a big difference in view/experience between the rows in the balcony section (I know there ofc will be a difference between like row 1 vs. 15, but something like row 9 vs. row 15?)

My number one tip for you would be to go to the practices! At practice, you can sit as close to the ice as you want, and see your favorites close up as they do full and/or partial program run throughs. I cannot recommend this enough!

I go to TD garden a lot for events and have typically sit in the corner in a back row and never have a bad view for hockey/basketball/other events. Row 15 is really not bad and they will show the skating on the jumbotron. If it's not full you can move forward. Row 9 to 15 isn't a big difference. Row 4 is row you enter the balcony on so if you don't want stairs pick that row. I got my seats for worlds in row 6 in the balcony center section. Feel free to ask any questions! Might be there for a hockey competition the week before worlds and can take pics of seats or look at viewfrommyseat

thank you so much for the tips! I'm super excited, just wish I'd done my research prior haha, but from what everyone says, it'll be a great experience :) I've got middle balcony (row six) seats for the men's short, but I'm in row 15 for both frees

Take binoculars. I took pics of the skaters with my iPhone and fortunately labelled them or I wouldn’t know who they were now.

After the first session (we were at the very tippy top, like they crammed two seats in where the stairs are) we switched to ADA seating. My sister was blind in one eye and I was terrified she was going to fall. I still had a good time and I hope you will too. I did watch a lot of it on the Jumbotron.

I was so excited about everything! My first Jumbotron! Sweepers! Gracie and that beautiful SP!

^^^I took photos off the Jumbo-tron and was really pleased with how they turned out.

I agree about practices. I went much closer... Fun to see things from a different angle. At the same time, watching from higher up also has perks. You can see ice coverage and get a better overall of choreography. It is easier to see all jumps too from above.. just enjoy yourself!

Agree with all of the above. Also depending on how full each competition is, you can always move your seat. If someone comes along who has a ticket, I graciously move on. I've done this at TD Garden and Bell Centre and not had an issue, as well as other figure skating comps.
