Advice on new skates

Hi all!
In the last few weeks, I've returned to skating after a roughly 14 year break and I'm looking for advice around new skates.
I quit skating when I was 16 and at that time, was in a new pair of Jackson Freestyles (they would not have been professionally fitted, I probably went to a skate shop with my Mum and purchased them). I was doing up to single lutz at that time. I was the same shoe size then as I am now (UK 6) so when I returned to skating I continued using these boots. Currently, I am taking private lessons and focusing on relearning the basics - edges, three turns, crossovers, mohawks etc though in the future would like to work on my single jumps. I am also part of an adult synchro team so currently on the ice twice a week for about 3 hours in total.

In my last lesson, my coach noted that I seem to be on my heel a lot, and asked if my skates were too big. When I got home, I took the insoles out and measured my feet and they're clearly way too big. The skates also say they're a 6 (and my street size is UK 6). I don't feel my feet slipping around in the boot but I am noticing I'm tying them tighter and tighter as I use them more.

I have accepted that I need to get new skates that fit properly and am going to go to a reputable fitter - UK based, I have been recommended Everglides in gosport which is a 6 hour round trip for me. I was just looking for some recommendations and advice going into the fitting about what skates may be best for me, especially as I'm travelling so far.
I have always been in Jacksons (Mystiques then the Freestyles). I am 5'8, probably around 60kg (don't weigh myself but am typically a small in clothes). I have weak ankles and a tendency to pronate inwards as well as my feet turning in (pigeon toed). I would say I have an Egyptian foot shape, though I have a bunion on both feet so my big toe points inwards (does not cause me any pain or discomfort in normal life). Don't think my feet are wide and think I have a normal arch.

I'd like skates that have the right level of support and won't break down quickly. Don't mind if I have to buy boots and blades separately - I have always struggled with spinning and finding that "sweet spot", instead always going on the toe pick. So blade recommendations would be appreciated too!

Thank you!

Hi and welcome! You also have the option of Al's Skate Shop in Blackpool.

I would say based on your stats and needs that you would be okay in Riedell, Graf, and Risport.

Riedell: Flair, Bronze Star
Graf: Richmond Special
Risport: RF3 Pro or Royal Pro

Pair these boots with a traditional intermediate blade: John Wilson Coronation Ace or MK Pro.

Good luck!

Thank you, it's helpful to have some ideas prior to a fitting.
Al's skate shop is quite a bit further for me to travel, but they do seem to have more stock of the different Riedell and Graf boots than Everglides show online... I will contact both stores for a discussion before I decide which one to go with!
