Alexander Petrov

Well, he is a natty dresser, isn't he? (beams)

And go, Sasha! Good luck for the SP!

A beautiful and clean performance! :luv17:
81.61 (41.57+40.04).
They added in some choreographic nuances since the last time we saw his SP. His program was well received by the audience as well. They were clapping along with the music at one point. :)

Interview:

"Alexander Petrov task - to get to the extended squad
24.12.2015 14:32:01 | Figure skating | Figure skating. Russian Championship 2015

Today, on December 24 in Ekaterinburg started the championship of Russia on figure skating. They opened the competition program of men. For the short program, Alexander Petrov received 81.61 points. The special correspondent of the portal TEAM RUSSIA-2014 Boris Jodorowsky quoted Alexander Petrov after the speech.

- The feeling after today's rental excellent - said Alexander Petrov. - All that is conceived, executed. It would be desirable, of course, insert short program quadruple toe loop, but the risk is not.

Why?
- At the end of the short program I want to get into the strongest workout and execute a quad, I do not stable.

When we were flying in the same plane, and you seemed to be very focused. Such concentration does not lead to excessive squeeze on the ice?
- I did not notice this. Perhaps just been tired.

What are the challenges for the championship?
- To get into the extended squad. This means that it is necessary for the championship to get into the top six. Naturally, I would have to speak at the European Championship, but it is the maximum objective."

Wonderful! I'm so happy! That was a great skate - I hope he does every bit as well in the free! (beams)

Note: I showed it to my husband at the same time as I watched myself, and it turns out Sassi (see avatar) watched it all as well. It's worth noting with her that she only rarely watches an entire skate, as she quickly loses interest, but I found her staring intently, so I think we can say that Sasha has her seal of approval.:)

Same interview but from a different journalist:

Alexander Petrov: "All I wanted, did"

"The feel of the short program great- said Alexander Petrov. - All I wanted, did everything as planned. It would be desirable, of course, to insert a quadruple toe loop, but it is in the arbitrary. In the short program, I did not execute a quadruple because my task to get into the group of the strongest. A quadruple toe loop jump risky for me to embed it in the short program. It is necessary to make it more stable. My goal in this tournament to get Russia on the results of the national team, and this should get into the top six, "- summed up Alexander Petrov."

Did he say there will be a quad in the free? :jaw:... Suddenly I feel a bit sick to my stomach with anxiety... (clutches tummy)

But, go, go Sasha! You can do it!:cheer:

Yes he did say so. I'm very anxious as well.

It struck me that I think this is good indication that he did try the quad at his last mystery competition (mystery because so litle info has been forthcoming!;)). Hopefully if so, that will have got some of the jitters out of the way - and that he'll be able to hold the program together regardless of how he succeeds with the quad.

Of the photos you posted, I also especially like this one:

I like the look of pure focus.:)

Well, speaking of focus, even in the plane Sasha was "in the zone". He is very serious when it comes to competing and performing. His attitude and work ethic are first class too.

Those are very Plushy-like traits, actually - and therefore a very good sign also for the future.

I would prefer not to compare Sasha to Plushy, if you know what I mean. :) Sasha Petrov is just Sasha Petrov.

I know what you mean, and I was actually going to write a disclaimer to that effect - but these are the traits of a champion, and therefore very good to have. In his personality and his skating he is, of course, his own person. That's what makes skating interesting to me. I have no wish to see skaters who are clones of any other - even if it is my favourite skater of all time. And Plushy had (has) these particular traits to a very high degree - that's mostly the reason I mentioned him (and yeah, and because of that "most favourite skater of all time" thing as well... ;))

Okay so I just finished watching and I must say he looked really confident and relaxed in a way. I'm really happy with his whole sp in general (jumps, points etc)

About tomorrow… I feel like the quad will be fine and if it isn't successful, at least he tried. As long as he doesn't hurt himself or anything, it's ok.
Just fingers crossed the fp will be a lot better than last year. :)

So how about the shirt? Have you warmed up to that yet?
