Why didn't he try the quad earlier? Well, you must remember that Sasha is only 15. He didn't need the quad at any of his previous competitions this season. His health has also not been good. Mishin said Sasha had Acute Respiratory Infection several times. That's a serious illness which can result in death. Sasha's bad skate at Senior Nationals was due to illness. So why try the quad when you don't need it and you're not 100% fit. He probably would have tried the quad at Senior Nats had he not fallen ill before the competition. That was also when Lazukin debuted his quad.To be honest, I do not even know will it be good if he try the quad. First, this will be his very first quad. And it scares me a bit. He had never try this before in competition. I'm sure if he could do the quad stable, he would tried it in this season. This situation reminds me Jason's a bit. The last two Sasha's free skate were bad even without the quad. On the other hand, he must do it in the first time one day. But in the JWC? This is a strange decision by Mishin. Do a quad in the training or in the competition - this is not the same thing. Adam can prove ithwell: Lazukin is obvious example also. But I just believe in the best as always.
Why try the quad at JWs? Well, why not? He has nothing to lose. With or without a quad, he's not one of the top 3-4 favourites. The ISU would rather have someone else on the podium. So why not go for it.

I guess even if he doesn't podium, he will go senior next year as Mishin said, but still come back to junior world as Adian. I think it will make more sense. If his health hasn't allowed him to try the quad in competition yet, I don't see why should he rush. Remember he is competing against 17 years old boys, not those that are on the same age as him.
I agree. The only one that is the same age as petrov is chen. There is no rush to do the quad now.

And Sota Yamamoto, recently he has been reported to land quad in practice (not beautiful air position though) but he couldn't put it in a competition in Japan. But Sota has also been reported to land 3A more stablely in the same competition as well. So if Sasha want to win against Sota, maybe a quad in the LP might be needed.
Nathan Chen is good but his health is questionable and his jumps aren't big.
But we know these days big jumps don't matter anymore. The judges still give huge GOE to small jump and so so landing if they like it. And Russian fed doesn't seek to politick enough for their junior men.

Is there an interview where it is stated for sure that he will be going for the quad? I don't really doubt that he would - just curious; I think there may have been an interview or so that I missed reading - I think I meant to come back later and do so, and forgot?
But I seem to remember someone saying that Petrov seemed more enthusiastic about trying the quad than Mr Mishin? And - remember that poll about whether people thought he'd go for the quad this season or not - and adelia noted that Petrov himself had voted "yes"? (I thought that was so cute!) It's possible that he actually wants to do the quad - because he likes it. Who knows?

Either way, I trust Mishin's decisions. He knows a thing or two about quads and men's champions.
I think Rus Fed perhaps let certain things slide at JGPF because they want a medal in some other competition. If that is really the case, then there could be a surprisingly favourable decision going Russia's way either at JWs or Worlds. We shall see.

Seems far-fetched to me... Russia doesn't need politics to win ice dance or ladies. And no amount of politics is going to get a Russian team over Yu/Jin, unless Yu/Jin have a nightmare skate. Maybe a silver over Seguin/Bilodeau, but trading off a medal in men (that's not going to be gold) for another medal (that's also not going to be gold) seems like a stupid hassle.
It's just a strong technical field at Jr. Worlds this year. Shoma and Boyang are bringing the quads, and none of the Russian juniors have a stable quad (no, Adian's most definitely is not stable). They're sometimes given generous scores because their technical content (and in Shoma's case, SS) are a notch above the rest, making the judges see them as better overall.
My response to this is the same as above: we shall see. It may turn out not to be the case but it is certainly possible. And I say this in regard to not just JWs but Worlds too. Petrov's PCS marks at JGPF were dropped to a 2 year low for a reason.

To be frankly all junior men don't have stable quad, two or three competitions say nothing about the quad. Their bodies are still changing, their jumping technique need to be adjusted as well.
I still think that the Russian are not backing up their junior enough. TES is another matter which could have been altered if the judges like it, but low PCS for Sasha at JGPF is kind of alarming. And now after 4CC we all know Sasha is not even podium favourites. This fight is gonna be hard for him.
I blame JGPF on Inman.
However, if he goes clean and loses even to skaters without quads... Where did I put that pitchfork?

Now that the jwc is coming closer (which means that it's soon time for Sasha to fly to Tallinn) I for some reason started to wonder a few things… 1) how good you think his English is?
2) does he travel with his parents to the competitions abroad?
3) and if he doesn't travel with his parents do you think that he has his own hotel room or does he sleep with somebody?

I'm sure he speaks basic English...he writes in English on his Instagram sometimes.
Dunno if his parents ever go with him (adelia probably knows ), but I can say that skaters almost never ever have their own hotel rooms. Certainly not at that level. He would be rooming with someone else from his team most of the time.
