Other than Voronov, I think all the top tier Russian seniors and juniors have had meltdowns this season. Perhaps this is something the Rus Fed needs to think about.

With regards to Sasha, everything was great from August to December. Clean/near-clean programs one after another. Even at JPGF, although he fell once in the SP, he still skated near-clean in the LP while a few of his rivals did not. But then from late December, it suddenly became the case that he could not complete his LP without falling twice. Yesterday, he was slower than usual too. So I think it is true that illness has derailed his progress this season. But the season is over for juniors now, so he care rest well and next season he will be better I'm sure. He is in good hands.

Nice article about Mishin, a tribute for his birthday yesterday:

The era under the name Mishin: to be continued

I agree on Sashas consistency. To me it seems like the only jump that he really has problems on is lutz, but that should be quite easy to fix after he gets himself back healthy.
And about Mishins age. I didn't realize that he was actually so old… that means that Sasha most probably has to change coach at some point.

Mishin's dad lived well beyond 90 and his dad passed away due to an accident, not health reasons. So no worries.

Awww! That's adorable!

Yes, I believe in him too - he'll come through, ne'er fear! It may take a while, and there may be something of a bumpy ride ahead, but let's just strap ourselves in, prepare for it - and we'll all emerge safe & sound on the other side. I'm utterly convinced of it. The question only is "when", not "if".

My thoughts exactly.

Nice photos, thank you!

One photo made me think: "Awww - is our boy growing up?"

and the next one: "No, he's still looking young - phew!" :)
