Alexander Petrov

He still handled himself quite well, though - pity about the fall.
That 3A though.
Brit Eurosport guy said one thing interesting about his 3A. He doesn't "dig in" as much with the left foot.
He just takes a step with the left and then jumps up with the aid of the right leg. Minimal skidding and minimal use of arms. Very smooth motion.

Videos are being deleted again (specifically the user's account was deleted). This time it's a Russian version of his Skate Canada SP. I guess I could start making back-ups of those.

The Canadian seminar is in 3 days time, I'm really curious to know if he'll be there or not. Hopefully there will be some indication soon.

I'm sorry that overlooked this last week. I've just seen it but it's so lovely that I must post this.
Birthday wishes from a Russian photographer:

"Happy Birthday, I wish to congratulate Alexander Petrov, a wonderful skater with soft and cultured skating in the best traditions. Sasha, who even managed to win his place on the Russian podium without a quadruple, I wish for the new season to completely master quads, and that in so doing certainly remain and even grow in consistency and beautiful skating! I believe that this will happen!
And of course, I wish you health, love and happiness!"

A list of students going to the Sochi camp in July has been released. That's conducted by Mishin's assistants. Sasha is not on it (thankfully), so he'll probably be going to the July camp in Tartu.

Edit:
Richaud will be at the Courchevel camp from mid to late June. No mention of whether he'll be at either Tartu camps. *Fingerscrossed* that if he's only going to be doing one of Sasha's programs, that the other one will be done by outside help too. Pleease.

If he's going to Canada, they should be departing this morning.

Edit:
You may have heard by now. GP assignments will be released at the end of June.

Mishin has brought Liza, Nugumanova, Gumennik, Semenenko, Lozko and Sasha to Toronto. No Dmitriev, Lazukin or Samodurova.
They are currently enroute and will probably arrive some time in the evening today, Toronto time.
Besides the seminar from 6-8 May, at least one of these skaters will be getting choreography done in Toronto.
Who will the choreographer(s) be? I don't know. Will Sasha be getting any choreo done? I also don't know. Maybe or maybe not.
In any case, I hope this will be a fruitful trip for him.

I honestly hope that if Sasha is getting any choreo done, that it won't be DW or Lori.
The way this event has been billed was already disrespectful enough and if he gets a jazz or comedic program... :disapp:

Oh, please no... Neither of those styles would suit Sasha - at all. (I'm still hoping for Richaud... he really "got" Sasha, and in his first try too! I'd love to see what they could accomplish if they keep on working together. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.)

I doubt Sasha would get both programs done in Toronto. They most likely won't be staying longer than a week there. Plus, he's not a high enough priority to get both programs created in Toronto. So it's likely that Richaud will still do one of his programs.

Liza has worked with DW before though and Mishin expressed a liking for Javi's programs this season so it's quite possible someone is going to get DW choreo.

Edit:
Best case scenario for Sasha would probably be Shae-Lynn I guess.

Don't think of just the choreographers in Toronto. There are other ones in the driving distance of Toronto such as Lance Vipond (when he's not travelling) and if Emmanuel Sandhu is doing any choreography these days for skaters other than local ones, could there be a chance?
Emmanuel is also part of the coaching team in Guelph (as well as a few other clubs within driving distance) so I'm guessing he will probably be there for the seminar too.

Wow, Liza, Nugumanova, Gumennik, Semenenko, Lozko and Sasha, what a COOL star-studded cast , but why is Artur left alone? :( Has he lost favor with Mishin? :scratch2:

Yeah, star studded. The World Champion, the phenomenon and the rest of the team. As for Artur... I feel sorry for him. But that's just the way it is.

I hope Artur can keep improving and make the national team next season, but I am not so sure about his prospects at the thought of those up and coming skaters.

BTW, adelia, what do you mean by "The way this event has been billed was already disrespectful enough and if he gets a jazz or comedic program..." ? :scratch2:
