Alexander Petrov

European Championships schedule:
Mens SP 11.15am 27 Jan
Mens FS 5.50pm 28 Jan
Gala 2.30pm 29 Jan

On Saturday he was at Moskvina's masterclass at Igora. He did not perform of course because this is a Pairs masterclass but at the end when spectators take to the ice to learn from the skaters, he joined them. Maybe he was just there to support his friends, I don't know. But he wore hockey skates when he was on the ice.

Edit:
It seems that he was at Igora to play hockey and when he heard that the masterclass would be held there too, he decided to hang around to watch.

As you might know, Instagram ripped off Snapchat and now there's a "stories" function on IG. I don't have access to his Snapchat stories so hopefully he uses the stories function on IG now instead.

Anyway, he's at a medical centre, getting an X-Ray done (I think). Either he's injured or undergoing a yearly medical exam.

Let's hope it's the latter...

He has new skate guards, they're purple. And also it seems he's been doing run-throughs of his SP? Is the SP more "ready" than the LP?

Maybe this is true. Misha Ge (if you've read LRK's post in the Mishin thread) has arrived in SPB and will be there for two weeks. I hope they really get that LP sorted out. It's already very late as the test skates are just a month away.

They seem to be doing regular run-throughs lately. I know last week they did a couple and yesterday they did another one. At Eteri's group they do run-throughs every other day but she is supposedly the exception because most Russian coaches prefer not to do full run-throughs often. So I don't know if this is just part of the usual off-season schedule or that they've actually increased the frequency of run-throughs. But either way, I view this as a good thing.

There was something once said about a former Russian champion... that person almost seldom ever did a full run-through of his programs in practice and it contributed in part to his inconsistency.

It's been over 5 months since we last saw him skate. I'm so curious to see how his skating has changed. This is also possibly the first time in years that we haven't had a single off-season video (a full length video) of new programs from skaters in Mishin's group.

Artur has started working as a coach with skaters in Mishin's group already. And I don't mean Dmitriev, I have no idea where that guy is right now. I mean Gachinski.

According to Misha Ge's instagram post, he (Ge) received feedback from Russian ISU judges today:
"ISU level judges from Moscow come to check on routines and levels. Appreciated for their suggestion they give (will work on that to improve), and also happy for a very positive feedback from them."

I don't know whether he's talking about his own programs or the programs that he choreographed. It's phrased to sound like he's referring to his own programs. But obviously they didn't go to Yubeilyny just to check his programs, they're there for the Russian skaters. There's a photo he uploaded but it's only of Mishin, Prokofieva and Liza so I'm not going to bother posting it here. You can check his instagram if you want to have a look at it.
