Alexander Petrov

He skated really well, a clean skate!
He's not happy with the score though. I'm not happy with the score either. lol
But it doesn't matter. :)
The commentators had glowing praise for him, especially for his skating skills.

Edit:
I like that they appreciated his skating skills, so under-rated. The edge/blade control, change of speed, fast twizzles with good ice coverage...

Great start for the season, though - great performance, effortless & flowing.

You know when he was warming up, that body language, I knew something was up. lol

Sidenote... I am so tired today but I'm glad I managed to stay awake for this. The stream quality was good and the commentary was great too. :)

IKR. That's what the commentators said too, it's good that more people are picking up on these aspects of his skating. It makes him stand out from the rest.

his landing were kind of sticky...
I guess there's alot of room for PB in his SP this season, even with just a 3A
I think this can score in 77-78 range...

Score doesn't matter. What he is trying to do here is to score ranking points.

Anyway, it's going to be a great learning experience for Sasha, going in last, as the leader. All the best for tomorrow!

I'm looking at protocols, I can't believe they called an ! on his lutz edge. That's surreal.
Anyway, nothing you can do about that.

I just realized ladies SP overlaps with mens practice. And Liza is the last skater in the ladies SP so very likely Mishin won't be there at his FS practice later today. Can't be helped, he'll just have to do what he can.

There was a press conference, the photo is on his fanpage.
I could not find an interview, only a quote from a brief Icenetwork article:
"I did a good short program today, but a quad was missing," Petrov said. "The idea of the music came from my coach, Alexei Mishin. I play a sorcerer who tries to make fire."

Hopefully there will be more stuff later, interview and photos.

Edit:
When someone said "gypsy sorcery" a few weeks ago, it was spot on.

Other than the popped quad, perfection.
It was tough to skate last, late into the evening but he was sooo strong. Did not let the first mistake affect the rest of the program at all. Congratulations!!!
