I didn't want to say, for fear of jinxing Sasha, but I had the thought all along - since he was announced for this competition - that he might actually win this... :)

You had that thought? I expected him to win. I wasn't 100% sure but at least 60%.
 
Awww! Watching the award ceremony I felt almost like tearing up - so proud of him! This is just the beginning... :)
 
Saw someone on the International Figure Skating Magazine Facebook page saying this is his first senior title. It's not though, it's his 4th senior gold (3 of them CS events) and 8th senior medal.
 
No interview available but a quote from the Icenetwork article:

"I gave a good performance today -- I just popped the quad," Petrov said, "I started my season with a victory, but my main goal was to skate a clean program, which I did not do. Therefore, my main goal for my next competition, Finlandia Trophy, is to do the quad."

Well, there you have it, he's not completely satisfied. Only 100% perfection is good enough for him. I like the attitude.
 
That's a good attitude, not bashing himself too much for the pop but not happy with it.

Maybe it's good that he doesn't have quad in the SP yet. Better to go clean there and try it in FS in the beginning of the season.
 
Yes, in the FP he doesn't need to do it in a combo or have connecting steps to it - and if he makes a mistake, it won't be as costly as in the SP.

I also like his attitude. Matter of fact, and hoping to improve on what he did now.
 
I am still surprised he has so much problems with getting that quad under Mishin. I thought it will be just businesss to get 4T there
 
Well done Sasha :cheer: I love the SP in full package and also costume is cool. But who was the tech caller to give him on a lutz ! mark at SP. Wtff?

Well, the tech panel got everything right in his FS, so that's what matters most in the end. :)

He's been invited to the gala of course. I wonder what he'll be skating to? I don't think he has an EX choreographed yet, since it's so early in the season. All of Sasha's EXs are self-made (for the most part) so maybe he's working on one now (mens gala practice is currently going on at the practice rink).

The gala is at 8pm local time, so don't forget to watch. It will be streamed live.

He probably has given it some thought before since it was quite obvious that he was going to medal. So hopefully he has at least decided the music for the gala.

Anything new would be good. Just a Gigolo was fun but we've already seen that twice.
