It's rather sobering, isn't it, to think that Trusova, Kostornaia and Shcherbakova are already starting to be overtaken in people's minds even though - due to absolutely no fault of theirs - they have yet to go to/medal at a single senior Worlds/Olympics?

Sobering is the right word. It is possible that the pace of ladies' figure skating has accelerated to the point where now our stars have a two-year trajectory instead of four. Those who hit their peak in the first two years of an Olympic cycle will have no chance against those who come along directly after.

We will have to see what happens. But I think it is this possibility that has the ISU thinking about splitting the sport into technical skating and artistic skating.

I do not see how it is sobering to think that Kostornaia, Trusova, and Shcherbackova are being replaced in people's minds. Over in the prediction thread, most are saying they'll be in the top 4. It rather seems only this thread where some are sobered.

I do not know what "most people" believe or are sobered by. As for predictions and power ramkings, it seems to me that these will always be a year or so behind. That is, in predicting who will be the best next year, the only thing we have to go by is who was the best last year, or possibly, who improved the most last year (cf. pre-season rankings of cpllege football teams).

Maybe more precise language would have been, I am sobered by the possibility -- quite a realistic one, I fear -- that the quad revolution that overtook women's figure skating a couple of years ago might have more permanent and farther-reaching effects on the sport than I at first supposed.

I think this photo should be posted here. The first public appearance of Sasha and her new coaching staff: Evgeni Plushenko, Dmitry Mikhailov and Elena Ilinykh. https://www.instagram.com/p/CFC-xbAJwjF/ I don't know if we can already talk about any changes, the competitions will show good and bad sides of this coaching change
do we know why Rozanov isn't coaching her? i figured (or was under the impression) his move to Plushenko also had some weight on her decision to go too.

According to TSL (yes, I know it's TSL, so take it with a grain of salt) Sasha was upset that Sergei agreed to coach Aliona, so she doesn't work with him anymore. That's the only possible reason I've been able to find 🤷‍♀️

Sasha no longer works with Rozanov. Why? The most obvious option is the situation with Alena. Sergey was a real support for Sasha in the new team and when they moved together she called him "a reliable friend", but this friend, after a call from Alena on July 17, took Sasha's main rival into the group. What kind of reaction did he expect after such a stupid act?

but on the other side of that argument, what did Sasha expect? did she really think Plushenko would keep her as his only high level athlete and not bring more top athletes to his growing school? of course he will, no questions asked. why? reputation and money. it would be crazy for him to refuse anyone like Aliona. it wouldn't surprise me if Sasha was fed some empty promises as a lure.

That might depend on what plans and agreements were made in advance. It is clear that Plush couldn't refuse. But it's not about him. It's about "the most beautiful man in the galaxy" . However, it must be said that here (as is usually the case) nobody knows anything and the whole discussion is about assumptions.

I think we discussed several other possible reasons already in either RLT or Trusova's fan fest. There are logistical reasons too (allow Plushenko enough attention to both skaters by splitting them into separate sessions etc.) It sounded from interviews that Sasha mostly came to work with Plushenko, and whether that's in combo with Rozanov or some other doesn't matter for her.
Anyway, we don't know the situation for sure, so I don't think it's fair to assume pettiness or gullibility on Sasha's part. Women/girls tend to be pitted against each other in the media for lowbrow entertainment.
Anyway I quite like Elena and Dmitri - greenhorns but well-taught (Goncharenko, Rubleva, Zhulin). And tall young Dima is cuter than Sergei to me :D

hmmmm..Sasha would be unprofessional..
I don't know what Sasha and Rozanov's relationship was like and whether he played a role in the transition or not, but I know Plushenko has been training Sasha since late March.

Of course, Plushenko Academy needs high-level athletes, but they could not take opponents for Sasha at least this season (perhaps there were even such agreements during the switching). Yes, they got a strong athlete like Alena, but a lot of problems came with her. This conflict had a negative effect on everyone(except Alena): Rozanov will not be mentioned as Sasha's coach and, if she succeeds, will not receive any benefit, Sasha has lost a strong technical specialist and a person with whom she communicated well, Plushenko now needs to work 2 times more with different groups and choose who to pay more attention to on competition(I think you noticed his attitude to Alena during the test skates, he didn't even meet her after performance and immediately went to Sasha)

This is speculation. There are facts and the fans make speculations with the facts and make a whole story, they fill in the gaps some speculations. Don't worry Sasha must learn if she doesn't know the skaters are training in team. Even Yuzuru has peers.

As I (and you) said. We're talking about guesswork here. Actually, we should say that WE have to learn to let go of something like that. Because it is basically completely pointless and in the worst case puts someone in a bad light for absolutely no reason. Sasha doesn't have to learn to train with competitors. She has been practicing this for many years.

Very normal for coaches when they have multiple skaters at the same event. If you watched RusNats men's free, the first 3 skaters out were all Butsaeva's students so she had to stay with whoever was preparing to go on next and only went to the KnC after all 3 had skated. Or on a less skating-nerd note, Orser did that with Hanyu/Fernandez/Cha even when they weren't skating back-to-back.

Gino, have you seen this? https://www.instagram.com/p/CFG4hUYJtZD/

and Volkov gave an interview he said about Plush: https://www.sport-express.ru/figure...-intervyu-trenera-aleksandra-volkova-1712402/
.........
In response to an offer to organize internal competitions at the Academy:
- This should be addressed to Plushenko , for sure there are some such thoughts. But now he is building a skating rink and is very busy with it, plus working with Sasha, with Alena, our guys, the same Kovalev. It is really breaking now, and I understand it."

I wouldn't read too much into all of this. There’s a lot of new coaches and new skaters in that team right now, all of them JUST joined the team. Whenever there’s a lot of new people, it wouldn’t be easy to find the best way to work with each other in the beginning. They’re probably still looking for ways of working comfortably with each other, reassigning roles and responsibilities on the go. It doesn’t have to be all that dramatic, with conflicts and stuff.

Well I think it was so noticeable that Rozanov wasn't at the boards at test skates for Trusova's programs when he choreographed both of them, and that Trusova credited him with helping her with her quads and now she's not even training with him. Seems strange and thus the rumors and speculation.
