Alexandra Trusova

Being interviewed Victor Kudryavtzev said the maximum of Trusova in Seniors (for now) is being 3rd in RusNats. If she may skate perfect she may finish in medals.

Trusova is completely non-concurent for Seniors.

May I ask who this guy is?? Non-concurrent in seniors? 3rd as the maximum??? What??? Who else would there be besides Zagitova that could beat her?

It will be funny to watch Sasha prove them completely wrong.

Kudryavtsev is a Soviet/Russian coach. First Soviet men's WC Volkov, Butyrskaya, Kulik, Averbukh were amongst his students. Dudakov as well.
Nowadays he's a member of a coaching council that will decide who gets the 3rd spot for Euros/Worlds. So, he's hardly nobody.

As for the interview, he said Trusova can't currently compete with senior ladies in terms of SS, musicality, choreo and presentation but still can hope for the 3rd place (behind Zag and Med, obviously). He was very complimentary about Kostornaia in the same interview, but downplayed her chances to win against those two as well ("not now, maybe in the future"). Nothing outrageous, he just tells how it is.

I guess Zag and Med will be [most probably] overscored and get 1st-2nd if they skate clean.

Yes Alina Alena or Sasha will win nats. Anyone else would be a shock. Even Zhenya or Sofia would be surprising I don't see the point in this guy coming out and say Sasha can only get 3rd.

come on. He didn't even know that Alena won bronze last year.

Judging by this recent video https://www.instagram.com/p/BrdY9qQlQY7/ they removed at least one or even two quads from her FP. So this Kudryavcev guy may be right after all - unfortunately she has low chances to win anything higher than 3rd place at RusNat. I really hope to be wrong here though

But even 1st place RusNats would give her little.
No EC, neither WC. She's to wait till GP series. She may participate in JWC also but of little interest.

Back to the video.
One commentary asks: "According to THIS video they removed one or two quads from Sasha's program?" - (my comment: according to which video?)
Another asks: "Did A/T landed 4Lz-3T, 4Lz and 4T and An/Shch did two lutzes?"

Those little clips have nothing to do with quads. Actually there are videos of Zagitova.

Some lady named Marina Hoffman comments: "Ask E/T for details."

If my calculations are correct:scratch2:, when Alina gets 38 PCS in the short and 78 PCS in the free and +5 GOE on everything, while Sasha gets 32 in the short PCS and 68 PCS in the free and+3 GOE on everything, a clean Alina could win over a clean Sasha by 6.79 points.
edit: sorry i did calculate incorrectly : 3.97
:palmf: Well this is complicated
looks like the predicted PCS was about right hahaha.

this short video doesn't really mean anything. They don't train quads every practice and if this runthrough was first thing in the morning practice they tend to skip quads before girls warm up enough. so I wouldn't do any speculation based on this.

I have to admit I’m a bit confused. I do know that she‘s jumping 3F-3T in her run-through there and she only ever did that in competition with a reduced quad layout. But don‘t Eteri girls train multiple combos anyway, even if they don‘t actually need them? I mean, Zhenya and Alina and from what I knew, the juniors too, always tack(ed) on multiple 3T or 3Lo during practice. We don‘t know which jumps she jumped before this clip so it might very well be that Sasha - even more determined after losing JGPF - just pulled of her quads and decided to do another 3F-3T just for the fun of it. Seems more likely to me than for her to reduce the number of quads. Who am I kidding, I‘d prefer it because I can‘t deny that I‘m always anxious and scared watching her go for a quad but this doesn‘t seem like Sasha at all.

And anyway, I frankly don‘t know how she won‘t be able to at least get silver, even with a reduced quad layout. Her TES is still insane and how much can they actually lower her PCS without it looking suspicious or outright ridiculous? Who else is there that could steal the silver that actually has a comparable level of TES? Anna but she‘s a junior as well. Alena beat of them recently but they made mistakes, she was absolutely perfect and to top that, she is a junior too and why would they artificially push one junior above the other when both are clean? Doesn‘t make much sense to me. So, while I do think that Alena should get a significantly higher amount of PCS (like at the JGPF), if Sasha doesn‘t make multiple mistakes, it still won‘t be enough.

And I also absolutely agree that someone like Sofia (who’s a senior as to have a comparison that makes sense in this context) should get higher PCS than Sasha but not by like... 30 points or something that would be needed to surpass the technical difference. So, I might eat my words but I can‘t see Sasha finish lower than 2nd, just like I can‘t see Alina not taking the title. Let‘s see what rusnats will show us.
