Alexandra Trusova

Do you think that she would have thrown the triple, if she had cleaned all the quads before the first axel?

"Well done! Now have your fun!"
I think she might have done it if the yesterday's scoring gap was not so big. I mean, no one knew how the scoring would go today until we have seen the results. So probably, IMHO, she would not have taken the risk!

Amazing win! Hope to see the new dress for that program. Someone said puffy sleeved shirt with leggings, I would die for it! Though probably it’s going to be a Juliete dress... also, hope that St.Sequence becomes 4!

omg, I am still dizzy from this one, I can’t imagine how she feels after that first hurdle!

I like this dress on Aleksandra very much also, it makes her look athletic, fitting the more powerful cut of her music.

Lots of work still to be done, but this stage of Russian Cup will probably give her a confidence boost.

Imo, Sasha should focus on skating the FS cleanly with all three quads and cleaning up her levels on steps and spins, as well as improving her interpretation before introducing the 3A. She lost quite a lot of points on the lesser scoring elements this week.

The 3A in the SP should definitely stay, though, as it helps her get more competitive in that stage of the competition. Two cleanly skated programs with the layouts she did this week + her improvements on artistry and skating skills should make her PCS rise considerably as well. That in itself is already a big challenge, trying another 3A on top of the three quads would be a bit of an overkill at the moment.

Also, I have to say that her 3Lz+3Lo worries me quite a bit. They‘ve already removed it from the SP and for good reason it seems. The problem is that she kind of needs it in the FS, without it she‘d have to switch the first quad triple to a quad double combo... I hope they‘ll be able to stabilize it.

Otherwise, well done Sasha on her win. She did the impossible. And it’s good to see her happy again after a competition. She deserves it. :)

Mikhailov, her young trainer still expects to prepare an ambitious five quad program ....

Given the characters of both Aleksandra and her new training staff, no lessons learned?

She stepped out of the opening quad lutz, while she landed two quads afterwards. Her free skate score was 164.82 and she won it with 240.59 overall. At the height of her powers, Trusova landed four quads at the 2019 Japan Open but three quads may be good enough to score 240+. Evgeni Plushenko was watching her free skate nervously at the rinkside. He should be credited with stabilizing her quads.

Plushy was so nervous he was chewing gum like it was going out of style!

I'm so bad at watching competitions live though! I was sure after yesterday Sasha was in trouble, but she came back and won it! :) Although I felt badly for Kamila :(

I too enjoyed Sasha's choreo more than Daria's, but I'm not sure if that's me being biased...

It's so nice to see Sasha smiling! She's such a little ray of sunshine, I smile too.

Maybe 3A is simply more interesting and easier for her to improve on than spins. Her abilities and time are not limitless, so they are working on what they can make better, vs going after something where she is close to her ceiling. It’s unlikely she’d ever win on spins...
And if she can get it solid, a 3A is worth more points than spins! In men's singles you rarely see beautiful spinners who can't get a 3A down make the cut for national teams if the country's field is stacked. Plus, spins can be developed over time - again, many men known for terrible spins (e.g. Brezina, Joubert) managed to improve their spins later in their careers. Not amazing like Brown or Sadovsky, but ticked the boxes without needing a lot of flexibility (fast, centered, fulfilled level requirements). Sasha can basically compete with the men so she can use the same strategies as them - jumps first, spins later :D

She doesn‘t have to try and win on spins, it‘s right that this will not happen anyway. But she should not lose points on levels and this is an relatively easy fix, especially compared to another ultra c element in an already crowded FS. Spins and steps aren‘t too many points in the grand scheme of things but in the end, it‘s the small things that can make the difference. And especially if you‘re competing against skaters like Shcherbakova and Valieva, who always get level 4s. She tried to rely on outjumping everyone last season and it didn‘t work. Now she‘s focusing on other areas of her skating, too and I‘m glad. She doesn‘t have to be an ice princess! But developing her performance ability and skating skills is a good idea. And spin levels should be included in that package. But that‘s just my opinion.

I read a comment in which Sasha is compared to Plushy .. and Yes! I feel the courage and confidence in her as I felt a long time ago at Plushy. Especially in yesterday's program. When I look at her program, I feel an adrenaline rush that I don't feel when I look at other skaters. I think it's about the speed and difficulty of the elements
