Alexandra Trusova

Congratulations for delivering a great performance! She'll get her gold medal soon, I'm sure of this. I just hope people won't be harsh to her because of her reaction. Skaters should have some private space far away from cameras where they can express their emotions.

She went through so much, to get to this. She did it, she freaking did it !!
I'm heartbroken that she felt it was all for nothing. I feel so much for her, I don't think anybody would have reacted differently in her place, really. It really reminded me of Surya Bonaly.

Some athletes are just too ahead of their time.

She needs to remember that at his first Olympics, Nathan Chen wasn't even on the podium ! She is and will forever be the epitome of Olympics legends.

I love her, and I'm proud to be her fan. I really really hope she goes to Worlds, in my country, so I can tell her in person how much I love her.

I can't find my place today 😭 I was crying with Sasha. What more she can do than doing what no one ever done and will not probably do recently again and they decided it's still not enough. Sasha you are legend no one can tell me what you have accomplished is not worth a gold. It's worth more. You have every right in the word to let your feelings out cause honestly they don't even deserve to watch your skate. Just know how special you are, you are worth more than gold medal. The rest are just medal holders you are unique, a legend, out of this world.

I’m so upset with these olympics.
I was sure Sasha would land her 5 quads and be an olympic champion, it was her dream and she deserves to win a major title.
I was hella furious with how they treated Kamila and now it’s like they are denying Sasha’s hard work. What a waste of her talent.
Anyway, good job today, for me she was the winner.

I hope Nathan will rise to the occasion and reach out to her knowing how important he is to her. It would be some kind of consolation, recognition and motivation,. After all, he ended his first Olympics without any medal after winning the FS, so she is still in a better position....:)

Would be a nice gesture, but the idea that he should "rise to the occasion" is manipulative. Not right to ask him to do something for a position he never asked to be in.

I did not mean it like that. I did not think much of choosing the words. I just know he did congratulate her afer the test skates and she did seek him out to congratulate him after his win, much like a fan girl, and he seemed warm enough and moved enough, and it seems their stories have a bit in common. No pressure meant for him, rather figurative speech :) Anyway, I do not think he reads it here and feels pressed to do anything by my posts.

First of all, if Trusova had skated a little bit cleaner then she would have won.

But secondly, she has had an absolutely awful PR/development strategy from the very beginning of her senior career. A smart PR strategy would have been to focus on 3 quad FS and try to maximize PCS, then a 4 quad strategy and try to maximize PCS, and then go for a 5 quad program. But she had been all over the place without any rhyme or reason. She seems to be someone who only wants to do maxed out quad programs.

If she continues, I would consider putting the 3A in the FS if only to give her another opportunity to get a clean one done. Maybe if she gets one done clean in competition it might be easier in the future.

I'm so heartbroken for Sasha. 😭😭😭 I finally was able to watch her FS, and it was more of an injustice than I thought. I have always believed personally that since the tech panel did not do their job in 2014 Yuna was the rightful winner no matter what the results say. It was not a subjective difference but an objective one. I think I will hold the same view here that Sasha was the true winner.

At Russian Nationals 2021 she had 2 Quad Lutzes and Anna's 1- Quad program was 183 points to her 170. And yet here a 5-Quad FS to 1 Quad was 177 to 175. There is something terribly wrong with this picture 🥺. Why should she ever be satisfied with being thrown the silver or bronze medal when she did so much. In the events where she does fewer quad jumps and a clean SP she loses by a landslide from Europe to Beijing margin and she would have needed 2 more Quads to win and when she does 5 Quads and 3A SP she loses by a huge margin and is told less quads and no 3A? It does not make sense to me.

I have not posted for years despite the fact that I read Goldenskate daily and always follow skating but what happened to Sasha here was so terrible I cannot help it. When Yulia faltered in 2014 even a diehard fan like me could not so much as make an argument for her to be 4th instead of 5th. But Sasha? She deserved the win here.

I wondered about this myself...unless doing a 3A takes so much energy out of her she couldn't do a 5 quad program including it.

I didn't actually see Sasha's FS until this afternoon because I was too scared to watch last night then tuned in too late to see her.

It's unfair and upsetting, should she have won? I don't know but what really makes me mad is when people claim "All she does is jump, she's got no program, she's got no skating skills, her interpretation is non-existent". Is she the best in these areas? No, but to claim she doesn't do them at all?

Ashley Wagner tweeted that all Sasha did was stare at the ice, do cross overs and jump. Well I don't know what she watched because I didn't see that at all! Yes, she did do a lot of crossovers, but she also did 5 quads! What's Ashley's excuse -seeing as she admitted she too did many crossovers?

We're always told to be nice to that skater or this skater, but when it comes to Sasha it's like say whatever you please.

Reminds me of how Plushy was written off in his day - the exact same words used to describe him as if he didn't spin and do step sequences or emote or anything. Maybe that's why I'm a fan of Sasha, that and her never say die, reach for the stars attitude.

I hope she keeps it, because some day she will reach those stars.

Just wanted to come here to say I'm heartbroken for Sasha.
She really went out there and skated her heart out. I understand her feelings and reaction, I wish she would have been given some privacy to let out her feelings, but I really hope she didn't really mean what she said about not wanting to skate anymore.
Skaters like Sasha Trusova make figure skating exciting!
I hope she can go home soon, take a break and reset. Take as long as she needs to and come back to skate when (and where) she feels ready.
I definitely hope we can see her skate for many more years and just keep fighting for that gold medal.
