That video was fascinating. Eteri definitely feels very bonded with Evgenia. It explains a lot.

I don't want to comment on Yulia's experience. I'm sad that her skating career ended like it did, but I believe her best life is ahead of her.

As for Alina I feel reassured by the fact that she has a close, loving, supportive relationship with her family. It's kind of heartwarming that her ideal vacation is just to go to her hometown and hang out at home. Says a lot about the love and happiness in that home.

Yeah... and maybe the flip too - but it just an exhibition. The fact that she is fearless enough to try to skate her competitive short program as an exhibition is what is important to me. There is no quit in this kid! Considering the wild ride she's been on the last 2 months - especially in her first season as a senior - I give her +3 GOE on everything :points:....

Absolutely! There is no way she is in peak condition right now. Also she is new to landing her jumps in spotlight. And she still brought out all the hard stuff!

Thank you Ed for that rare video of an open and honest coacht Eteri. She was very fragile in that video interview which is unusual because normally she's tough and strong. You can tell her break up with Yulia still hurts her deeply. The only way Eteri could be more hurt is if Alina brought her flowers again. :eeking:

Hope they are having their fill of ice cream and bimbimbap. Saw photos of them shopping too! Glad they are enjoying themselves b4 gg back to exams (gasp!) and training.

About the tights, I thought maybe she is using a different pair of tights, one that doesn’t roll over her skates because it isn’t big enough.

Tiger suit was made as a “one piece” so it’s already bigger and designed to fit over her boots, because it would look weird if it didn’t since it’s a bodysuit.
Boots showing there would be more of an eyesore, on the other costume several skaters leave their boots out using similar clothing.

Probably in competition they wanted to favor the body continuity illusion (taller body frame) that has great aesthetic.

After all the comments and comparisons here, I tried to look more closely and her upper thighs do seem to look bigger than at the Olympics - not sure if it is tights, the camera angles or ? . But still beautiful body form and as pretty as before.

Absolute bias here but from the finale video, I loved her body lines and movements the most of the group.

I also noticed that her thighs stood out more, then I realized the main difference I noticed between the tights she was wearing (besides their length): competition tights are opaque and show tights look sheer. Being more shiny and reflecting the light they might have given this boost to her thighs.

She is bigger, and stronger, but when you see her in regular fan photos or even wearing shorts posing with Plushenko in SOI Japan backstage she still looks petite and lean.

And I’m with you on the finale video, Alina moves beautifully, has great arm movements and perfectly timed spins. I kept watching her and Misha Ge (also further down on the same row) and she matched him beat by beat, and he is the master of dance swag.

I also think the main difference comes from the new tights, they are too shiny and under the lights make some visual illusions. Also, the tights in the boots make her legs appear to be a little bit shorter as they are (she has such long legs for her small built!). But this applies only in combination with the tutu because in the bank ad, where she wears a normal dress, she looks stunningly.

And of course, she has grown a little bit, it's normal. She's just at the right age to do so and also off season. I am sure the time around the Olympics was so stressful that all skaters lost some weight. I remember once seeing Aljona Savchenko's IG story from a competition, where she was surprised that she had lost some weight, although she'd been eating quite much. So, I think their bodies are now recovering after this huge stress, and they are actually not fat at all. When the season begins they'll be back in shape. :yay:

She is bigger and stronger but still pretty small. Like you state in certain photos she still looks petite and lean.
 
I hope Eteri will have a new training base in the near future, with two skating rinks, for juniors and adults, she dreams about it and Putin promised). It's a pity that Eteri does not have as many opportunities as Irina Viner, girls from the Russian rhythmic gymnastics team have all what they wants - private jets, yachts, diamonds, bodyguards ..

I wish the same for figure skating))
