Alina Zagitova

Alina, first skate over. That's the most important thing. PB. The 2A axel again. Will she need to change this entry?

Congratulations to Alina with a nice debut! The entry to 2A is extremely difficult and I think her team should think again about it. But besides this she did well! She was so nervous at the beginning. I'm sure she will feel more confident from now on.

Repost from the 2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating thread:
I like the stsq to the music Moonlight, but I think the climax of the Swan Lake part towards the end is rather weak. She used to do the Charlotte before her 3Loop and a split jump before 2A in her last year's SP, and both were amazing! Maybe she's not comfortable with the Charlotte before 2A. It might not be a bad idea to go back to her old transitions, but I see she's doing 3F this year.

Regarding her costume, I thought she mentioned that there would be a costume change in her previous interview but not in this one. It's a beautiful costume, and I like the mixture of white, black and grey on her tutu to create an ombre effect. I'm not a big fan of the long sleeve though, and the position of the tutu seems a little low on the hip. I would like to see something more dramatic like Dina Averina's, who had a color change of her tutu from black to white towards the end.

she seems kinda tired I think.. also I like her costume, with a bit of polishing this program could really be nice by the end of the season

Alina is freaking amazing, but there is such a thing as "too much" and that 2A entry is just too much. Even if she makes it - she'll get some +2 and +3 GOE-s and what? She can also get them easily with a simpler entry.

Other than that, I'm sooo glad there's no tacky costume change, and surely she can get all 8's in the component if she keeps up with the music.

Don't write her off. This will shake her, as surely the test skates shook Evgenia - and that'll just make them stronger :)

she was very nervous and did a lot of jumps just before the start of the program, no wonder that she's looked exhausted as well.
but hey, she got her PB. judges are ready to go with alina. if she skated clean, her score would be over 75. not so bad for the international senior debute, i will say.

I've noticed many people (especially on the Lombardia Ladies SP thread) saying that her score is ridiculous because she has no artistry at all and her lines are awful, and I couldn't disagree more. I am just getting around to being able to watch the programs, and as someone with dance background, I thought she had wonderful lines and artistry fitting for Swan Lake, made even more impressive by her being 15. I don't understand why they're saying that, because I at least thought that had she not fallen on the axel, she would have been truly phenomenal, not just excellent like she was today. I'm also very excited and nervous for the free tomorrow--that's where the top three will all be separated. But will the judges be willing to mark Alina over three points above Wakaba? For my sake, and for hers and her reputation's, I hope so. We already know Carolina will be ridiculously overscored, but even so, I don't think her technical side will be compensated for by her components side. Just hoping Alina does well tomorrow to prove herself to the Fed, even though she shouldn't have to, and to herself and her coaches, even though, again, she shouldn't have to.

I thought Alina was lovely yesterday. I still don't like the backloading but her skating is wonderful. I did think she looked a little tentative going into the double axel and she seemed just a little rushed through a part of the program but it's her first senior competition- I think she'll shake that off after a few more outings.

Alina got 147,17 (79,65+67,52) for a free program. And she 1st (and won tournament) with sum of 218,46 !!! :yahoo:
