Alina Zagitova

Considering a 16 year old's instagram activity as a resume is a new concept for me. I might as well put fake credentials and make marketing firms believe me--yes, that's how reliable instagram is :agree2:
People nowadays put so much substance on what they see on social media, when it feeds off superficiality.
For one, she's not applying for a job in your company; she's a figure skater and that's her focus. She's judged primarily according to what she does on the ice, then how she conducts her self among her peers and the rest follows...professionally speaking, I don't think the posts she likes on instagram falls in this category. She is not a beacon of virtue 24/7 and that is not why people know her. When I say she's a good girl I meant I don't see her crossing such boundaries. The girl can't even use her ig without someone making a mountain out of a molehill.
If only people could just get rid of the perfect image they have of the people they follow, they would realize that those people are also--surprise--people. :eeking:

And what is not superficiality? What you read that she said in a prescribed interview and some phrases she learned from grown ups? i think it's more authentic what she does on social networks than how she appears in interviews.
Given the fact that i, at least, don't know any of the skaters personally I am more than entitle to form an opinion about a skater taken into account also the social media.
As I said in other posts, I'm also interested in the personality of the skaters and I put great importance on that. i'm not a judge to look exclusively on what she's doing on ice.
And it's not in my nature to find excuses, in general, (he/she is young, he/she is just a normal person, etc).

There is another picture, of just her Mom with her girls.

The two pictures are on her Mom's instagram account. Wow Alina is taller than her Mom already, how time flies.

I love seeing pictures of Alina happy with her family. I know she misses them and I can't imagine how much her parents must miss her. Not to mention her little sister. These are years and time spent apart they will never get back, but I would imagine that it strengthens their bond in a lot of ways and makes the time together so much more precious.

The whole family has been really guarded on social media and I respect that, but I appreciate what they do decide to share with us so much! Thank you Zagitov family! :thank:

Couldn't have said it any better :agree:

I think being apart also impacts Alina in her drive to win and her motivation to train and excel. She said in various interviews "so all of this won't be for nothing", she knows the sacrifices she had to make and her family had to make. I'm happy to see that through all that sacrifice the love and connection they have with each other has become even stronger.

I appreciate what her parents choose to share too, they are super private people (which I also admire), and when they share something you can see their pride and joy in the great close-knit family they have created.

Maybe because we are all different and we expect different things from people, including athletes we follow. Nothing wrong in that.
And as none of us (i guess) knows her personally I find it difficult to say that "we know that she's a good girl' ... Instagram is a presentation card for me... and it's a common practice even for big HR or political marketing firms to follow the activity of persons on social media in order to know them better, to learn their preferences, their aims, their flaws and so on.

As for the media being banned to call her Olympic champion, I think that it's just an invention. Even the president of Sambo 70 said clearly that this is not true. Other mistreatment... I don't know at what you are referring.

Eteri saying at press conference with Alina and Zhenya to not call Alina olympic champion. And Zhenya got the olympic champion treatment not Alina. Those are 2 instances I am referring to. I am glad she has handled things so well. Alina is so mature for 15.

I think that was from an interview not from the press conference, and it was obviously like a joke not to get into her head and to lose focus.

Indeed, so if everything is superficial then why should social network weigh more than actual interviews with all nuances (body language, intonations)? So (assuming) she learned phrases from adults, do you also expect her to be well-versed in dealing with the media right off the bat? Then this comes full circle to (in my opinion) the absurdly high expectations placed on her. It's a fact that she's young and is actually a flawed normal person. Excuses are used for exclusive circumstances but these are not excuses; it's just how things are--people generally become less naive as they grow older. Everyone would go through that thing we call "growth".

Anyways the subject has been exhausted and I rather like this thread to be as positive as it can be; given all the negativity from almost everywhere...
I'm off to bed

Renat Laishev ( Sambo 70 boss) new interview , about Alina , Eteri , Zhenja ..

Thank you EdRoz for the interview. Renat Layshev seems like a wise, trustworthy person and I did not know that he is a Tatar. I hope he'll take care of Alina and fight for her best interest.

I love their holiday photos too. They are a beautiful family. I really hope that Alina's dream will come true and they will live together again soon..

Bonus: 2 ballerinas :biggrin::biggrin:

Speaking of Alina's IG likes, she liked this beautiful fan art -

There was link to this amazing drawing posted somewhere in this thread. I thought it was one of the most well-done and incredibly touching portraits I had seen. Glad Alina saw it and liked it. Hat's off to the brilliant artist!

That's really amazing. I wish I would have a little bit of talent at painting..I would paint something for Alina too. (maybe for her birthday or something) But..my painting skills are somewhere way below sea level
