Alina Zagitova

From an interview with Tuktamysheva:

"The first emotion I had when I read the new rules is that they were made to favor skaters whose main quality is mature and beautiful skating. And not lutz-rittberger at the very end of the program".

Was that a jab at Alina? :disapp:

yes , envy is a bad feeling :disapp:
Liza speaks a lot , but there are no results

And someone can't have mature and beautiful skating AND a Lutz-Rittberger at the end of the program? There's some kind of law of nature stating that they're mutually exclusive? :sarcasm:

New layout of the forum. Previously there were 15 comments on one page, newly it is omly 10 comments. It't only about forthnight this way. So naturally the gap is also equally changed, 300 old pages is now 450.
It makes sense I guess. Odd though

Ouch! Was that really necessary to say? Good thing Alina has both, and hopefully she will have a program that can show her potential...

Hell yes its a jab at Alina! And Eteri. I am still so pissed off how the Olympic gold medalist Alina Zagitova has been treated since she won the Olympics back in February. She was even afraid to celebrate when she learned she won Gold the first gold for Russia in the games. Then she got treated like the silver medalist for months in her coach's desperate ploy to keep her second daughter in the fold. It didnt work. I hope Alina actually enjoys this season and the rest of her career. The youngr Russians are coming on strong so she has to be ready.

Alina does not deserve this. smh. Why cant Liza just say I like the rule changes and leave it at that? She is mature and should know better. and almost all Russians wanted medvedeva to win the gold medal over Zagitova and that still bothrs me. TAT crying on the air for Zhenya instead of rejoicing in Zagitova winning gold with the most difficult program ever for a womens gold medalist. smh. I dont know how Alina has handled being second fiddle even as olympic champion. She has such class and grace.

Probably because part of the reason she likes them is that they disadvantage Alina's program style. I just hope that it's the style she's taking unnecessary stabs at and not Alina herself.

Because it is weak. I believe that in the first place every athlete competes with himself, and only then with rivals .. and these words show her weakness, it's not boxing, not part of the show

Don Quixote was majestic. And if even a noob like me could see that, then a professional like Liza can too. So I guess she's just being salty.

It was very rude, wasn't expecting such words from Elizaveta, Alina's performance at the Olympics is breathtaking, both programs were incredibly beautiful and difficult.

Exactly, and I think Alinka is a role-model at such a young age exactly because of that: she went through very difficult situations, maybe some people did not say the most kind words about her, but she Never spoke badly about anyone, she was always gentle, well-behaved and soooo mature for her age. She was always focused only on her preparations, to challenge herself, to become better everyday, and maybe that's why she is now the Olympic Champion, and not somebody else.

From an interview with Tuktamysheva:
"...skaters whose main quality is mature and beautiful skating..."

 i.e. slow/boring/without ultra-C/failing and whatever else with no chances to conquer against current top skaters. She isn't first and isn't last putting on a good face when results are gone away.

Liza is an accomplished athlete... she is a World (which Alina is not yet), European and GPF gold medalist, and most important one of the few ladies in the world who landed a 3Axel in a competition (which Alina may never be).
If she has an opinion and chooses to express it openly good for her. i appreciate her guts.

I want to be like Alina, calm, serene, focused and above all kind. She is a fierce competitor but she never feels the need to give her two cents, three cents or even a hundred dollars on anyone else’s talents, merits and performances.
If anyone wants to copy something copy that, I admire skaters on a personal level when they are able to pull this off.
No matter what anyone, and I truly mean anyone, says, she’ll forever be a Single Figure Skating Olympic Gold Medalist. One of few in a field of many, and I’ll go one more and say she is the reigning Gold Medalist until the next cycle comes along.
These comments and expert opinions don’t matter to me, at all, and ever. In fact some of them actually make me dislike skaters (and experts) I would otherwise like, on a personal level, because opinions expressed like this are very close to sounding like sour grapes.
You know the saying “when Peter talks to me about John it tells me everything about Peter and nothing about John”.
Feel free to disagree with me, that’s why we have The Edge and every other Figure Skater under the sun FanFests. Go there and have a blast with like minded folks.

With this statement so obviously aimed at Alina Liza completely lost the credit for me. If she only have said she rooted for Zhenya or that she considers the rule changes right, it would be completely OK, but this is unprovoked senceless attack.

I mean, everybody is allowed to have an opinion but Liza isn't really known for this so called mature skating herself. I remember hearing the British Eurosport commentators during the cup of china last year saying her program had no correlation with the music she was skating to and it looked like she was skating to something else. She has the freedom to say what she wants but i hope all this babbling of hers (this interview plus the other one earlier this summer when she talked about bringing 3A and artistry this season) isn't just babbling and we're gonna witness that so often talked about mature skating on the ice this season otherwise the 3lz-3lo little girl might have to show the mature ladies how you get on the podium :cool14:

Also i'm sick of this X deserved more crap. You don't deserve an olympic gold medal, you earn it. It's not a popularity contest lmao. And Alina certainly earned hers no matter all the people who have had so many things to say about it since then :confused2:
