"Ааа, муравейник нашла. Иди ка отсюдова!" ("Aah, you found an anthill, step away.)
I'm so like this childish/provincial "отсюдова"Unfortunately, I don't know how to translate such nuances for not Russian-speaking
She says it like my old country grandma, but it's very cute. Adorable provincial child

hanyuufan5, how many languages do you speak?
) but not fluent yet, a tiny bit of French, and an even tinier bit of Spanish. And I know some basic pronunciation and a few random words of a bunch of other Eastern European languages. I really love languages.Alina , Aleksandra and Svetlana Zhurova (Olympic gold in Turin in 2006 ,speed skating )
Do the skaters actually attend classes with other kids during the day or are they mostly with private tutors?
A couple of comments...
1. I kind of question her doing a challenger series event this year... I would have only done a Cup of Russia event before the Japan Open. And she's going to be going up against her potential biggest technical challenger this year. She's Olympic champion... if she gets beat she should kind of have a positive attitude about it knowing that can't ever be taken away.
2. I really hope we don't see the boots over the tights anymore. That's fine when you're a scrappy junior or first year in senior but now it's time to clean things up. Medvedeva switched after her first year. If they really want something over the boots then look into stirrups.

I guess they need the feedback from an international judging panel, before going to more important startups. For any adjustments, corrections in the program related to the new rules, GOEs etc. Personaly thought I don't like this mentality, to hide and not compete, even if it's beneficial as you mentioned.
They'd get some feedback at the Japan Open... and if things went wrong there it's easy to count it up as a fluke. If they thought they could sign up for a challenger series event as a warmup with little competition then they thought wrong. I don't think they should pull out now but if she gets beat I hope they just take it in stride. She's going to get passed up the next few years anyway. Her focus this year should be a world medal but her long term goal should not be to win everything but to be relevant on the grand prix level for as long as possible and as long as she's having fun.
I'll be frank... I get worried about Team Eteri's decision making after her skaters have success. I've been through Yulia's post-Olympic season when she didn't have FS dress ready. Then there was Medvedeva last year with the empty FS with rippon everything.

Any idea how tall Alina is now and if her growth will affect her skating this season?
On a side note a couple months ago Alina's thread was under 300 pages behind Medvedevas. Now it's almost five hundred. What happened?
