don’t tell anyone how old I truly am, let’s pretend it was on in the early 2000s [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
Won’t work...everyone was watching Passions at that time :agree:

I disagree. TAT has now given two interviews where the gist is "Zhenya - good, Alina - bad." In the same interview where she talks about Alina not having fire in her eyes, she said that Zhenya doesn't need to participate in the Russian Nationals, because everyone knows who she is already.I think that part of this is more a criticism of her coaching team regarding the skating.
Contrasting their methods with that of Brian Orser/Canadian methods in teaching skating skills.
That's the only possible "dig" I see from TAT.
If I hadn't seen Alina perform in the ice shows over the spring and summer, I probably wouldn't care, but now I know what she is capable of.
Beautiful elegant flow across the ice, excellent positions that are held for more than a second, etc....
I want to see her "glide" more too and not be restricted by way too many movements that disrupt her flow.
Also I want to see her spirals in all their glory - not just a fleeting moment.
Other than that, I think TAT is concerned that Alina may have lost some of her competitive fire based upon what she saw at the test skates.
I think that she wants Alina to be cultivated to her FULLEST potential (which is HUGE) and also hopes she hasn't lost the most important thing any athlete needs besides talent - the overriding desire to WIN.
Actually I hope that all the criticisms and concerns make her an underdog again and fuel an "inner rage" in Alina.
Now we've got Liza T and her 3A and 3lz-3lo, Evgenia with Brian Orser, and all those juniors who are going to make her "obsolete".
C'mon Alina - kick some major league #$@# again. It's "Baby Boss" time again!!!!

French rap is nice. I want to see some la rage from Alina for the next world title.

:Let's say that the early 2000s was a good season for TV nostalgia![]()

Daniil stayed with her after her performance and seemed to be comforting her:
Yes, and respect to operator and assistant , don’t filming how she crying
Sorry for the huge post....
My two passions collided (tennis and Alina) but not in a good way this weekend. I wouldn't call figure skating a passion yet since what I know about it would fit the intro in a current Time Magazine issue, if you haven't seen one in a while it is now so slim that you risk breaking your hand if you try to swat a fly with it.
But, I call Alina a passion, she makes me want to watch everything she does, from trainings, to shows, to practices, to test skates and, finally, to competitions. Because of her I've watched more POTO than I have since the last time I had relatives in town and had to go see that (for what felt like the 20000000 time) show on Broadway. I'm sure before the year is done I'll be happily humming those tunes. All thanks to Alina.
OK, back to that bad world's colliding. Went to watch the US Open finals live at the stadium (women's and men's) an old family tradition and this year I was super happy, because I'm a Serena fan and I was super excited to see her match. Well, what I ended up watching made me feel so bad, and made me think of Alina quite a lot. Seeing the winner, Osaka, get booed into tears both at the end of the match and again in the victory ceremony was as hard as it was unexpected (never seen a crowd boo any winner at the Open ceremony before). She won fair and square, other off play game developments notwithstanding, but the crowd only stopped booing at the victory ceremony after Serena took the mike and asked them to. BTW Osaka won the Miami Open this year, playing against Serena, but this was her first Grand Slam win and also a first one ever for Japan. Seeing a 20 year old keep her cool during a tough match and then cry and cry as she won broke me inside a bit.
That whole affair, and the recent comments, made me redirect that whole feeling and think back to Alina. She was never booed to her face, and in fact was super cheered at test skates, but having to deal with heavy criticism at the tender age of 16, on her second senior year and after having won the highest tittle a skater can ever get, must not be easy. She expects great things from herself and not performing to her best, even at such an inconsequential event like test skates (which is inconsequential this year since it now defines neither financial support nor GP assignments, and she probably gets feedback from them at Sambo often), was hard for her. I was not expecting her to be perfect, her falls didn't bother me as signs of impending doom (if falls were signs of impending doom no one would skate, or win an event like Nathan Chen did after having those SP performances at the Olympic Games, followed by a redeeming FS btw). I wish she could shrug it off like some of the guys do when they have a bad day (I'm thinking of Chen and Kolyada here), but she is build differently and she feels it to her core. This is probably part of why she is such a great competitor, she is also younger than most and I'm sure that as she competes more and more in the demanding senior circuit it will eventually get to the point where she'll be able to cope better with pressure and less that ideal performances.
You peak somewhere in the season and all that, but you also improve on a curve, the more you do something the better you get at doing it. She has 3 new programs this season (one is an EX but still) and as she performs them she'll get better at doing so. Her layout is not the layout of a girl on her second year in the senior circuit, it is the very demanding and hard layout of one of the best figure skaters out there (THE best one for me, for sure). I'm glad she is doing a CS competition, it will allow her to grow into the program, get into the competition stride and take it all in with calm. She should look back to the Olympics before her win, when she was out to have fun and even show off a bit, laughing along as she wowed the world.
I didn't realize this happened. What disgusting behavior. A big thank you to Serena Williams for putting a stop to it.OK, back to that bad world's colliding. This is not directed at you in any way - because I understand the use of the quotes....I dont expect any of them to speak just now, they clearly are trying to prove they are still top girls (Evgenia with the coaching change and Alina with the "undeserving" gold medal) I dont expect them to interact at all through the season. Maybe at shows but not before they prove themselves to the world.
According to this report, Alina and Zhenya have walked past each other without looking at one another.

I remember taht even when Zheywa was still with Eteri they didn't interact with each other during competitions. That is natural, they have to focus on themselves.

I hope these neanderthal goons went back home to their "loser" lives happy in the knowledge they made a 20 year old girl cry.
What an accomplishment - way to go tough guys!!!! Knuckle-draggers indeed.
As nasty and catty as certain FS fans can be (and GS is one of the nicest forums out there in that regard) - at least I have never witnessed booing of a skater by fans.

Trying to bring some common sense into our emtional Alinka / Zhenya discussion, huh?![]()
