I'm back!!!

Gloomy weather, 1 million people taking up 5th ave sidewalks to watch Italians go by on floats. Side note: I'll never understand how Columbus Day - celebrating said man's arrival to the Americas (aka somewhere in the Bahamas or Turks and Caicos) became an Italian pride affair, sure he was Italian but he traveled on Spanish dime and time (and that whole "conquistador time" is in my book a very dark page).

I'm probably just cranky because I slept 5 hours and had to walk to Canada to be able to cross 5th ave to meet a bunch of likewise cranky people at the office (we work for a San Francisco company where this is not even considered a holiday anymore, this year main office workers said they've completely done away with any semblance of a parade there). I'm like Iriska in that "Rilakkuma" outfit.

What should be a holiday though is International Alina day!! And now that I'm back home I'll begin to celebrate it in earnest by watching Carnival on Ice all over again.
