:sad21: This kills me a little bit.

She will never be forgotten. Never. As much as I appreciate her amazing skating and I understand that is what she wants to be remembered for most, it is her strength of character I will never forget. Her reaction to winning the OG. Her moment on the podium. The way she conducted herself afterwards in a situation made unnecessarily awkward by people who really should have known better.

Alina showed a class and grace beyond her years and people three times her age could learn something from her. No matter what she may have felt about what was being said and not being said in her home country she maintained a serenity about it. Her parents get a lot of credit for this as well. I definitely would have had something to say about it if it were my child!

And when Japan decided to shower her with attentions since Russia could not be bothered, she was so poised and gracious. And so appreciative of her fans and their gifts.

I wish Alina all the success possible on the ice, but I will follow her as a fan long after she has stopped competing and look forward to whatever she does and wherever her journey takes her.

Back to happy - I am so grateful to her to helping me find my love of watching skating again. And letting me find this amazing fanfest with all you amazing fans!

Alina smiling gently into her little doll after the Olympic winning FS was something I‘ll never forget. Because it was this moment that made me realise how gracious, humble and classy she really is, it was the moment that made me her fan. I was probably a bit later than some of you here and I admit that. As well as I admit that it was her personality first and then her skating I fell in love with, not the other way round. Alina is something special and I just wish people would start to appreciate her universally and be proud of what she does for her country. But I guess... that will never happen and we have to live with it. But I hope she doesn‘t feel too much pressure and realises that she has already won everything, won it deservedly and from now on should solely focus on skating for herself and not anybody else. As long as she performs in a way she feels satisfactory with, everything is fine.

Not accidental at all Alina!
The level of skating from the top 4 ladies was off the charts.
Something you don't normally see at any competition, never mind the Olympics.

What happened at then end of the interview?
I assume he was asking her about what she listens to?
Does anyone know what?

Hi, my dear friends, I am so eager to watch the GPF already... the Vancouver time zone is not optimal for Europe but I will do my best to watch Alina live...

I have 3 exams this Monday I rarely have I been less prepared, I don't know how I will follow the GP and do well, no idea. But I want to keep track on the ladies, at least... Sometimes I wonder why I chose medicine and not sports journalism - I could be like Tatjana Flade, going to the coolest figure skating events instead of stuDYING and trying to keep up with the competitions somehow. :dev2:

 I have tomorrow morning (9am) Legal Theory exam (yea once again in 5th grade .. yupee :palmf: ) aand I'm really considering I'll watch at least Alina live. If I found any livestream and I can cound well that it's 6:30 Prague time. But to be honest I'm glad it's in Canada so we have night at that time, bc If it will be in a good time for Europe, I'll probably what the whole thing inside of studiing, so ... :scratch2: I'm probably terrible student too, yea. We are together in this!! I believe Alina bring as the luck. I'll keep finger crossed for you! B

Daniil about Alina:

She did good in training, straight after flight. There was no falls, and that's good. She is calm and comfortable.

About social media, hate, etc - we cannot take her phone but we talk to her about what to read and what not to read, and how (not) to react. We wrap her in our care and warmth, and try not to be just coaches but like parents to her.
She goes in the right direction.

:agree: It takes a village to raise a child. I'm glad Alina has a great team looking out for her in Moscow.
Especially Daniil, he seems to be the "nice" coach.
Though I think he has a side to him that can lay down the law, too...

And more about Alinka and Masaru. Because there is no such a thing as too much cuteness. :luv17:
On this photo you can see how an advertising poster for Airwave looks like.

The toy Akita on the toy mattress is perfect.

Alina vs. Japanese squad :)

3 to 1? No worries, Alina is backed by Lieutenant Korilakkuma!

Alina shouldn't be made to feel that her win was anything less than the magnificent victory it was.
She had two amazing, clean skates, and was ranked #1 in both SP and FS by almost all of the non-Russian bloc judges. No question of whether she deserved to win.

It comes down to that some of her own countrymen and countrywomen had a favorite going in, and now those people won't accept Alina's win and keep saying mean things in the media about it. :dev2:
What a terrible thing to do to the only athlete who brought home an individual gold medal in February. :(

A brief history lesson - Sumners said in an interview that she didn't like it at all that Witt beat her by 0.1 points in the FS to win the 1984 Games. You can see this in how she looks at Katarina during the medal ceremony . But Sumners became reconciled to her silver when Witt went on to win the 1988 Games as well. Can't remember her exact words, but it was along the lines of how there was no shame in losing to someone like Witt who was good enough to win the Olympics twice.

I think that it will be like this for Alina, too. A lot of people deny her achievements now, but in time, they will see. :) Alina will make them see.

Why doesn‘t Alina‘s sister come to train with Eteri? She’s a figure skater as well, isn’t she? I think Alina would really appreciate it to have her sister around. And who knows... in Sabina there might be a bit of the Zagitova-family talent for figure skating. :agree:

The reason is simple-most likely Sabina does not match the level of the team

She is also only 11, even Alina came to Eteri at 12, Alyona Kostornaya at 13 (slightly before 14). There is still time.

Today's practice- 2A, 3F, 3F, 3Lz3Lo, 3Lz3Lo, 3Lz3Lo, 2A, 3F, 3F, 3Lo, 3Lo, runthru (3Lz3Lo, 2A, 3F(step)), 3F Best of luck sweet Alina! :luv17:

I bet all three are missing Alina as much as she them. But Mr&Mrs Z would probably be devastated if Sabina was also absent from the family hearth. . Izhevsk--Moscow is the same distance as Moscow Istanbul.

I don‘t think so... I mean, didn‘t Alina only have three different triples when she went to Eteri? And look at her now - Olympic Champion. If she is talented, I think Eteri would take her on.

That could be true. I understand that. It must be hard for parents to let their child(ren) live so far away...

Oh, wow, I didn‘t know it was such a big distance! :eeking: That explains that, then. And Alina‘s family can‘t come live with her? I know it might be difficult, her parents have a job in Izhevsk after all, their home is there and Sabina goes to school there, all her friends... But at least, financially, it would be affordable, wouldn‘t it? I know housing is expensive in Moscow but Alina should have earned enough money already. Didn‘t she once get an apartment as a gift after the OG? What happened to it?

I also think that Sabina doesn't meet (yet) the level of Eteri's group. She was during the summer with Eteri at a training camp though.
Alina came when Eteri didn't have so many highly skilled skaters, probably it was easier to get into her group at that moment.
I suppose that Alina's parents and sister live now in Kazan (?) where his father is a coach.
She was given a flat in her native town, but I am sure that Alina earned more than enough to afford to buy something in Moscow. But probably moving is not a priority for her and her family right now. Plus the flat where she lives now is really close to the rink.

I'm crossing my fingers for you too, show them natural law vs. positive law in practise :)

From the videos I saw of her last year, her level is indeed very far off from the talent level of novice skaters that Eteri is taking on these days. I know Alina said that Sabina is better than she was at that age, but 1) when Alina joined Eteri's reputation was not as high as it is now, where literally every single talented young girl wants to train with her, and she already has more top level skaters than most coaches can handle, so space in the training group is even more constrained; and 2) Alina's meteoric improvement is extremely rare and may not happen again even in Eteri's whole career.

Oh sweet Alina, only you can make me cry like this.

You won a great Olympics, one where several skaters performed to the top of their abilities, clean skates, personal bests, consistent performances by several of the world's top skaters and you came out on top. Fair and much deserved. You showed that you deserved it on the ice and that's where it matters.

Lots of hard work and
Unstoppable drive to do your best with
Consistent winning performances by the
Kind hearted amazing girl the whole world loves

Above is the only luck that was involved in all of this.

You are unforgettable and your sweet smile and amazing life lesson is already a part of our hearts.

Good luck on the competition today!! Go out there and have the clean skate you want, work hard for and deserve.
