Alina Zagitova

And once again Nathan and Alina frustrate shippers by not standing next to each other in the gala finale group photo for the second time! :laugh2:

I've found most Nathan shippers to be rather docile.

The actually scary shippers ship Alina with someone else :dbana:

Whole set of posts

Thank you so much for providing us with a translation for this interview.

This fandom is super special, we always have kind souls who go above and beyond to help us non-Russian speakers to stay on top of Alina's awesome interviews.

This one was special on so many levels:

- Alina is super mature for her age and her posture as a top athlete is extra commendable. She never makes excuses and rises to meet any challenges she is given, and athletes are always challenged and called upon to go above and beyond. Her meteoric rise brought her clarity and wisdom, yes she is more jaded now but this is a necessary part of growing up. She is awake to both the gifts and the letdowns of being on a top position and she is learning about it as she goes along.

- She always had a reserved nature, albeit a happy disposition, and that is part of who she is, it can help her in the future as she will never be one to overexpose her intimacy and live life in the public eye. She doesn't have an online "alter ego" and I like that she doesn't do that, what she does is either part of her duties as a public endorser or spontaneous bursts of joy she wants to share.

- Friendships are always evolving, never more so than when you are a teen, it's a time of self-discovery and self-affirmation, I like that she hangs out with older people that have a great attitude, she can learn from them and also be embraced by them. Alina is a super friendly person and that will never change. Sometimes I'm a little bit sad that the Ladies field can't be a little bit more like the current Men's field, the guys seem more at ease around each other and have more fun with it. But it is what it is, when she is doing shows and in her interactions with other skaters once the competition is over she is always positive, kind and friendly.

- I'm glad she is finding her own way to deal with criticism in a way that isn't toxic, as long as she is on top she'll always be a target (we can see that with Hanyu, Nathan, Shoma, Kolyada, to mention just the men) why would it be any different with her? It won't be, that's the way things are. In my house we all love football (so much that I refuse to call it soccer like they do here in the USA) and after a lifetime's worth of watching it I can see the way teams and national squads are treated around the press (whether they win or loose), it's no different and extra crazy. Sad but true, if a nail sticks out there will always be someone with a hammer waiting to beat it down. We should strive to not give these people the platform they seek by amplifying their voices. I know that as a fan this is hard (and I respect those who can't do this or act differently), you want to yell, you want to defend, you want to cry fowl, you want to drown them in positive contrary buzz, but people like this will never change their minds (and will attract around them like minded people), they'll just keep going because what they want is to be the hot topic of a conversation. If you advertise them out, they win. Specially random commentators on the internet. Its like: Hey you name is LoveBugs047, how serious can you possibly be about providing someone with true insight and speaking all knowing truths (give me your full name, picture, real address, real verified email and social security)?

I guess that's about it.

I'm glad they traveled with their doctor (I am, this is a great move when they had so many athletes competing here) and he got to work on her, she seems fine but I hope they really check her out when she returns home to make sure she is 100%.

Thank you so much for the long translation, egoshina!
Alina is so honest in interviews :scratch2: Someone needs to teach her to dissemble.

Thoughtful of Alina to keep the world updated about her puppy

Alina strikes me as a very sincere person, but I don't want this quality to be taken away from her. I'd rather the world changed and stopped picking on a 16 year old girl, who is nothing but kindness.

That "Hey everyone let's make a triple flip" (that's what Daniil said) and Alina said "Ok here I go" video and the accompanying other one with the actual 3F....

the person shooting it was Megan Duhamel (she did it for ISU).

Hello everyone :)
I have been a lurker for some time on this lovely thread and I now have the courage to post!
I am an Alina fan all the way from Argentina! The truth is I have never in my life skated on ice, since there are no ice rinks where I live (or in the whole country I think). As a little girl I practiced our type of figure skating, which is on the regular floor lol. However I have been a fan of the sport, and I watch all the competitions together with my friends and my cousins. I may not know as much as most of you about the sport and its rules, but I do share with you the love for Alina!!! I think she´s just so amazing and she seems to have such a wonderful personality. No other skater today makes me as happy when I watch figure skating as Alina.
With the negativity you sometimes see on other threads or on youtube videos (most of which come from jealous people) I wanted to come here and show you that Alina has many fans from all over the world! When I watch her with my friends, we all say that she makes us motivated and makes us want to work harder. And I think that´s just wonderful. And the fact that she´s so young and inspires so many people speaks for itself.
Congrats to her for her much deserved silver medal!

I was about to write a very similar first post, but lilla09's perfect entrée nailed it, so I just want to say that I'm happy that I've found this extremely supportive and informative topic about Alina and feel honoured to be a member of this group from now on.

Tarakanova made a very long video of her pre-banquet and banquet experience (it's like 13:51 minutes long) and at

9:27 we can see that they had a small ceremony at the banquet giving medalists a gift bag (maybe.....I can hope.....finally a watch) and at this point they are calling Rika, Alina and Liza to receive their bags and take a picture.

It's the only glimpse I had of Alina in her video, apart from the screen at the start of the gala where they showed the same clip they used to open the gala broadcast....and Alina was under the "artistry" phrase....on the broadcast she appeared 3 times and also closed the clip on the "welcome to Vancouver"....here they changed it a bit.

Video, link, I linked it to start at 9:27 not sure if it'll work: https://youtu.be/z8mPqWBNc6o?t=567

Yuck.

I could probably say something "snarky" here like she is probably filming Alina in an attempt to prove she isn't injured, but I won't.
Oops - I did.
Sorry.Not.Sorry.

I remember what this one did & said very clearly after Worlds.
Speculative "concern trolling" with her little buddies.

Wow - so close to Alina and she couldn't reach out and give the poor starving girl a cookie????????

Welcome to Alina's fanfest......we are glad to have you here with us.

How can they possibly be in an a r/s when she really can’t speak English & they live on different continents, not to mention the age difference.

Still a better love story than Twilight. :rolleye:

Sorry, couldn't help myself.

I can't imagine they are anything other than friends. Taking into account everything you mentioned, and adding to it the fact that Nathan is trying to study at Yale and skate.

The irony of that one got to me too.....I would never have guessed her in a million years....but it indeed yes is.

Alina was a huggable fluff ball on this video, Daniil too btw....I'm glad they both were so wonderful. One a very small side note: Alina did choose to jump her 3F on the other side of the galaxy, which was kind of funny.

I'm glad the ISU picked her for the 3F (they picked a bunch of skaters and each did one jump or other element for this series, usually one of their best elements, no combos as far as I could see), she is officially minted as the 3F queen.

Welcome, patee! I visited Budapest this year and I must say, it's a wonderful city and I would be delighted to come back one day

Yes, that's what I heard too! Alina's English is better than Daniil's :) well, at least more clear :)

Eteri's coaching? Eteri's English is also better than Daniil's.

Yes, that is is always nicer

But learning to hide your feelings is part of growing up, and Alina is unfairly scrutinized because she is famous, female, and Eteri's student.

It wasn't too long ago that Meryl Davis got attacked for rolling her eyes at the wrong moment while the camera was on her

Duhamel...does not like Team Russia. At all. :dev2:

That annoyed me too. I hate their snide speculation on that channel. I was disappointed that Megan joined in.

I'd like to think that after spending some time in Alina's presence she would reconsider her opinions.

Totally agree. I don't like her because she spoke so badly not only about Alina, but about the majority of Eteri's skaters. And it's not a nice thing from a grown-up woman, but nowadays we are seeing many grown-ups doing and saying crazy things

Utkin — Alina fans is a idiots
Kostomarov — Alina do not grow as a sportsman
Slutskaya — Judges forgive Alina because she is the Olympic champion, it is not for long

and after all this comments top news everywhere — Zagitova fans want to kill the Slutskaya family

I have to laugh at you guys....

These people are way too rosy for Twilight (unless of course you count the wolf guy, which I obviously don't).

And way too wise to live their lives in the public eye.

I wish everyone a happy life, I ship happiness.
