Alina Zagitova

Agreed. I think she's doing great and I'm glad she's willing to have an open mind about trying new jumps and quads but I'd rather see her try 3A wouldn't that be easier?

Hard to compare lady skaters two men skaters cuz men just have something extra such as testosterone. I would say Alina is five to six inches taller than Anna and Alena and Sasha making it much easier for them to do quads 3A etc. Same with Rika it's easier for her to do 3A because she's much shorter than Alina is.

It depends on the skater. Every skater has some jumps that are easier for him and some that are more difficult. Alina has weaker axel (although we saw her doing 3A in the gym), whether her flip is very strong, so it is probable that 4F is easier for her than 3A.

I probably never see the video of her 3A in the gym?

I guess they are trying everything. Daniil already speak about quadruple lutz and loop, now he have video of flip. So we know she is 100% trying at least those 3 quads. But I bet they tried 3A and 4S at least out of the ice. They never sleep. And you never know what will fit the skater.

I agree that Alina's axel is probably her weakest jump, but from last season it seems to me that se upgrade it so much. So we never now with her. But for now probably it's easier for her to add one rotation to her other jumps than to axel. (We can see that with Sasha and Anna too, they have quad(s) but 3A not, Alena is close to 3A but not (or not that close) to quads, so best example that it depend on skater. :) )

You're right she is taller and also a little older, so for her is probably harder to get there. But we know she si quick learner. So I bet once she'll get there, she stay there. She will have advantage over the girls later, because she have grown so much in short period and is dealing with it right now. But the other girls will grow too and will be before the same obstacle as Alina is now.

And yes, men are different. It was just the point about the height. :)

This post is a kind of summary of my all-day thoughts.

First. In his last interview Orser said about team Tutberidze: "Because I’m amazed at what this other camp does with the skaters. I’m amazed and I don’t know how they do it."

Second. I thought "Maybe the thing is that for them it's not a business, but the meaning of life. And the relationship with students is not a duty, but care and love?"

Third. I saw this fan-video, it's great and it coincides with my opinion https://youtu.be/2hEF99qe_34

Alina won something else. It's really wonderful that she is so popular given the fact that she is probably the only Olympic Gold medalist that didn't appear on one single Russian TV entertainment show or radio broadcast after the Games. It's not like she promotes herself on social media either. She just won people's hearts over time by being herself. -

Moscow Sports Department :

Congratulations to Alina with another victory! Alina Zagitova is the best Moscow athlete in 2018.

Friends, our outcome of the outgoing year, we expressed in a vote for the best Moscow athlete of the last twelve months.

Voting turned out akin to the Olympic Games! About 50 thousand views, more than 16 thousand voted, 1172 likes: and it's all in just one social network. And the struggle for leadership in the vote came out quite serious.

Today we summarize: with a 4% advantage, Alina Zagitova still beat Evgenia Medvedev, confirming the fantastic level of popularity of figure skating in the country and in Moscow.

Wow, that video made me really emotional! Thank you for sharing.

I think a lot of the people who give their negative opinion on team Tutberidze’s way of training are not athletes themselves. Reaching the top is not an easy task, and there is nothing more valuable than coaches who knows and is honest about that. As an athlete you are bound to get tired and beat down at times, and coaches who always keep their athletes’ goals and dreams in mind, even when the athletes are unable to, are gifts. I wish more people could understand that love and commitment isn’t always shown in the way we are used to seeing it, and that it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

Alina won something else. ..... She just won people's hearts over time by being herself. -

I'm so glad she won the hearts of Russians (and whole World) in the end, more than that she won so many awards. I was so sad to see she was treat almost like a traitor by some people. I got that Zhenya was (still is) star and legend of one generation while she is still so young, she was expected to win, but I've always feel bad for Alina. I was like "But she is also russian girl, why so much people are dissapointed by her gold? She did amazingly, they both did. And it's not like robbery of Russia."

It's nice to see in the end of the day, after all that mess around, that both girls are beloved in Russia, and really ok with each other.

BTW Guys I'm so looking forwat to Europeans. I just cannot wait. I feel like Alina will be there in her top. I don't know why, but I really really wont Europeans to come!

Thank you so much for this! I am happy for every drop of recognition that Alina receives, it is so well-deserved.

How you just said, she just won people's hearts over time by being herself. This is where magic happens: she does not seek attention, being a private and reserved person, but that's exactly why people love her. Because she is modest, kind, with a warm heart, but at the same time determined and ambitious.

That's exactly why she deserves all our love and appreciation, she does not seek for them, Alina is just...herself. And she stole our hearts by doing so :luv17:

The event Alina will attend tomorrow in Kazan, in the hockey game at 3pm, will be broadcast through these Russian channels:

- Live broadcast on channels KHL TV and TNV

Here's hoping we can see a video of her participation, that would be so cool.

You are not the only one! I am counting the days until Europeans, to see our sweet Alina shine bright again :luv17:

I'm ashamed even to read it....
Maybe he needs professional help. or just a help where he can get a por*o... So he could entertain himself...
I'm not a feminist myself... but even in me it rise some feminist fire.

I deleted my post. It doesn't belong in our thread. I felt like I needed a shower after reading it. I'm betting he is going to regret those words. A lot. In the US his coaching career would be over. Dead and buried.

He was probably drunk when he gave that interview.

Oh got I really really hope Alina will come one day with all her beaty, completely adult face, amazing jumps in her pocket and shut this guy (and other same person) up.

Like really her body look so much different than Tessa's or Maegan's who are about 30? https://www.instagram.com/p/BhAz29TjVmA/ ...yea they are older in face, but their bodies are not as typical womans body either. They are extremely thin and under extreme physical pressure, thiny woma don't have big chest and as to show that to man. Their body adapt to physical activity they do. Sorry for say it like that, but yea...

Very young girls are smaller, so maybe it can be easier for them to jump. But you cannot win olympic just because you are teenager. You can look into gymnastics, Simone Biles is on of the oldest in the field AND has the most insane things in her pocket, it's not just about age. When you are young, you still have to work hard for it, you are under huge pressure, you have to deal with things which adult's athletes don't have to, etc. I think that every age has something. No need to discredit youngsters.

When this finally end?

paji, would you mind please deleting the text of my post out of yours? I'm sorry for asking but I really regret posting that in the first place. When I read it again it just hit me how disgusting his words are and they shouldn't be in this thread. :(

And your beautiful post will be saved since I quoted it! :)
