For this sport it seems like a lot of it is about staying healthy, uninjured, peaking at the right time, holding your nerve, stay in the game, near the top, and most of all show up and do your thing.

Next season for Alina could be a lot like Zhenya's season this year if she is learning new jumps. Not my ideal forecast for her, but I'll support her no matter what. I'll celebrate whatever victories come no matter what they look like. Especially if there are podiums and medals involved. I think her experience this season is invaluable. It will serve her well when things get tough again.

I HATED it when she lost in Milan. Still not over it. But if she had won would she have been able to push herself through the hard times this season? Would there have been enough motivation? There is no way of knowing. If one thing is different, then everything can be different. I know that this victory means so much more for being so hard won. And the heart break of Milan is part of it.

I'm excited for her journey next season. Even if she skates to more war horses (please no). Even if Danny G. decides to break out the music editing software again (please no). I'll be here for it! In the meantime, waiting for more great stuff from the upcoming skating shows!!!!

Alina confirmed what i ve been thinking all along about Milan, she only went there to save the 3 quotas for Russia because Zhenya dropped out of it, that was the begging of their split with Eteri... So nope she d stay anyway, like she is staying now after winning literally everything junior or senior in skating. Her motivation is her family, other important to her people and this way of living, not medals. Lol girl mentioned Eteri finally said she did a good job and it was more important than a gold medal

I think Alina's victory by 13 pts was such a huge validation for all of her coaches. I've never seen Eteri so obviously happy than in the kiss and cry with Elizabet and later on hugging Alina after the medal ceremony photograph. It was wonderful to see!

Even Sergei D. lightened up! As for Danny G. he looks like someone took the weight of the world off of his shoulders!

And they all felt free to actually 100% celebrate this Gold medal since Lizabet's Silver was such a major accomplishment in itself. They could just let go and be happy! It was nice to see :)

I imagine Zagistans and Zagitova fans feeling especially pompously victorious right now. Well, you have all the rights to be.

I have not yet looked into my twitter and instagram accounts yet, but I can only imagine how much glorification, uberfaning and arguing going on right now there. :drama: I guess I know better - I will wait for a few more days before logging in. :laugh:

(full disclosure: I'm 3A squad fan, but equally warm to Alina and Zhenya, despite all their troubles and some PR mistakes in the recent year)

I'd like to think we are all way to relieved and overjoyed to indulge in too much schadenfreude. It's just not a good look. And that kind of thing has a way of coming all the way back around. Like I said, next season could be Alina's turn to have a 'transitional' Zhenya-esque season. (And if that's the case, remember everyone - she just needs TIME!) Heck, this season was rough enough as it was!

For all the doubters, trolls, trash journalists, and TATs and TSLs and Bestis etc. it's enough to know that they are currently enjoying their great big plate of crow sauteed in wrong-sauce. Their pathetic salt made this victory even sweeter. And the fact that it wasn't even close this time around!

I am a 3A fan too. I consider myself a 4A fan really ;)
 
I'd like to see Zagitova work on her skating power... tbh, I think a lot of the meming choreography that comes from Eteri's group is done to cover up skating that lacks power. I used to like this but now I'd like to see something new. From various videos and photos from them training, I think there's a chance Eteri's group has their students do a lot of slow treadmill work to keep the fat off(you can create new fat cells but after they're created you can only shrink them... you can't actually burn them away)... and in the process they're promoting the production of slow twitch muscle fibers in the legs. I wondering switching to fan bikes and rowers for cardio might help things power wise. Or elliptical machines might make a better substitute to the treadmill...

Eteri needs to form her own country to give the rest of Russian ladies a chance to qualify for international competition spots. :giveup:

Even if she did form her own country of Eteristan three spots wouldn't be enough! :drama:
