Alina Zagitova

I still think her SP is the best performance of the Olympics even though I'm sure she can do even better. I'm really looking forward to the next season when she gets a free program choreographed with the same quality.

Agree - so much artistic development in one season, it's insane. Like, when some people wanna say Don Quixote looks juniorish, I'm like well, it was conceived FOR a junior. Fully confident next year's free program will be a similar step up as Black Swan was vs Samson.

she also said that never the reigning world champion has won the Olympic in lady field (forgetting about Tara )

that's wrong. Yuna won worlds in 2009 and the Olympics in 2010.

however, Alina is much better than Yuna!

The last skater to win Worlds after the Olympics was Kristi Yamaguchi... Yuna Kim has actually been the only skater since Kristi to attempt to win worlds after the Olympics. Every skater after Tenley Albright(who won Silver at Worlds) in 1956 and starting with Carol Heiss in 1960 to Kristi in 1992 won Worlds after they won the Olympics. So the first Olympics without compulsory figures is also the last Olympics where the Olympic champion won worlds.

It's a good idea to look at Yuna's post-Olympic performances to figure out what went wrong there. In the SP she landed her jumps(the 3F was called UR but not a big deal) but she seemed distracted and invalidated a spin and flubbed the spiral sequence which she received a level one on. In the FS, she looked good at the beginning but then fell on the 3S and popped an axel in the 2nd half so it could be a factor of fatigue... maybe not from being unfit but from distractions.

Anyway, there's no shame in not winning... she just needs to try to do her best.

I'm a fan of both Alina and Yuna so I don't think the latter part was necessary. I think Alina has something to learn from Yuna and I look forward to seeing Alina develop artistically as she grows.

@colormyworld240, I'll write the translation over the weekend when I have more times. There are some great bits in that video :)
