Alina Zagitova

Aaaaaaahhhhh I did the same thing.

If Alina and the Swedish curler win we all know who to blame... :agree:

And we will go to jail for hacking the voting system
By the way, if there will be some award ceremony, maybe swedish ladies will teach Alina to play curling on that opportunity, we know she has some deficiencies

When I saw a curling team in the same ballot as Alina I couldn't resit the temptation of linking the two.

Embrace curling Alina, it is in your destiny.

Aliev is already on the flight to Japan, I assume Alina is going today or tomorrow at the most.

YAY!!! Come on The Ice, I want pictures and lots of info.

"The show will be really fun, the cast is pretty crazy..with Boyang, and Shoma and...ALINA" :yahoo::yahoo:
Thanks Nathan, Alinka will surely be one of the main stars of the show :luv17::luv17:

I'm in the process of catching up with all the new programs that are coming out, and I was watching Rika Kihira's new FS "A Beautiful Storm" when I realized why Team Tutberidze may have made the decision to give Alina two warhorses this season.

First of all, I really like Rika as a skater and I hope she brings her 3A to every competition and skates cleanly, so this isn't meant to bash her. But when you're watching her express drama and tension with the "why why" hands and the waving arm gestures, the only impression I'm left with is that this is a junior skater trying to skate mature. She's of course really young and there's plenty of time to develop, and her artistry will be something that develops over time, as it should.

I think it's much harder for someone like Rika to interpret a piece of music and try to be expressive without a backstory that already exists, such with a musical or a movie score. She doesn't really convey any darkness or angst in a way that draws you into her performance. Compare her gestures to Carolina's in her SP last year, where Carolina really sold this story of lost love and forgotten romance. When I see Rika skate, I don't think she's fully there with the artistry yet.

Given that it's after the Olympics and all the critics have been going after Alina for not playing a ballerina adequately, I think Eteri was really clever in giving Alina two characters to learn to interpret. We all know Carmen is supposed to be sultry and upbeat, and Christine Daae will be soft and romantic. We know the direction of the story. If Alina can bring that out next year, then I think she can take those lessons with her when using new music for the following seasons. I'm looking forward to seeing the improvement of her artistry, and now's a perfect time to experiment, perhaps by going back to the classics. She won this last Olympics with two ballerina programs, so she'll have to do something different for 2022. :agree:

I am becoming more and more excited for Alina's new programs!

Today I was watching old skating performances in youtube (because I have an exam tomorrow and I prefer pure procrastination with some high-class figure skating on stressful days :D) so watching Plushenko's Carmen at the 2002 Olympics made me think that the music is so powerful and with so many music accents that it gives many opportunities for Alina to accentuate her jump landings just like DQ.

I'm with you and I also rewatched all Carmens. I hope soooo badly she uses the part of Carmen from Evan Lycasek's step sequence in 2007: https://youtu.be/wI9JR3UWlSY?t=271 (Does anyone know the name of this part??).

At the beginning I thought Carmen was a bad insta joke by Daniil, but the more I thought about it, the more I think it's the perfect choice for her. She can turn this Carmen into a new legendary Carmen. She has the looks, she has the musicality and most importantly she has the charisma and showman ability to perform Carmen (that's a natural gift you cannot train and Eteri knows it). With all the criticism from commentators all over the world for her backloaded DQ program, everyone stated that she is an outstanding performer. Captivating natural smile and flirty eye contact throughout.

I agree with both of you!

I went and watched the Plushenko program, and it's magnificent! I would be happy if Alina used almost the same exact cuts for her own program.

The part is called the toreador's song. It's a more masculine number from the opera, but I hope Alina skates to it. It's such an energetic, powerful piece of music.

This is the Toreador's Song (Votre Toast).

I have great trust in Eteri, Daniil and Dudakov's strategic abilities. I wouldn't worry about jump layouts, music choices or choreography, the last season speaks for itself.

That Japanese game show is on Japanese TV on Saturday and it will be featuring Evgenia Medvedeva and others from "Dreams on Ice".

I wonder what the challenges will be this time around.

One will be the one foot slalom Alina did, check out the second video on the post below (Aliona posted it).

Then there was one challenge to spin suspended on a rope, and at least another one with Zhenya.

I’m so curious about the one leg slalom, hope Aliona did it too.

I have been looking forward to this for quite a while now.

Mariah Bell and Mirai Nagasu should be there.

Papadakis and Cizeron too!

I’m so looking forward to this too, along with Aliev, Mirai also posted a short clip of herself on the plane to Japan.

Alina should arrive there any minute now.

My mind must be slipping - I remember seeing that video and thinking that Aliona would be good at it because of her body control.

I voted for Alina and Maia Shibutani

However if the Swedish BIKINI Team had been on the ballot....

Same here. I hope Alinka wins❤️ And Maia, too, of course. :)

Off-topic but: Nothing against Maia, I love her and she’s incredible, but why on earth isn‘t Aljona Savchenko nominated? I mean, to me, she would be the obvious choice finally winning the Olympics after all those years!! And then another World title as the icing on the cake... Can someone explain?

*Rant and off-topic end*

And: So excited to see Alina in this show!!!

That would have had to be in an Old Milwaukee ballot...

The campaign for Alina is really growing, I so want her to win. And I'd be happy if Maia won too.
