Alina Zagitova

Did anyone catch Alina’s live instragram a couple of hours back? I saw a few seconds then had connection issues. Can anyone share what she said?

I did (joined 5 min in though), she talked mostly in Russian, but she said in English “I love sushi”. Her English is getting pretty good. Mirai joined in and said Hi to her.

I think Alina is the best spinner in the world at the moment amongst the senior ladies. The final position even reminded me of Yulia. The step sequence was masterfully done, too!

Go Alinka. I really like the program :) :)

I think that this program has great potential. Yes - still needs work in areas, but this just an exhibition, and we are more than 2 months from the REAL start of the competitive season.

First of all, IMHO Alina's skating has improved and refined SO MUCH in such a short period of time.

Her spins have even more flexibility now!

I loved the dramatic edgy violin music that starts the program. I do feel that the opening choreography that leads into to combo is still a "work in progress".
Probably the least refined part of the program for me.

I'm not worried about the 3lz-3lo --- she has landed it at other performances of "The Ice"
The fact that she even tries it under exhibition lights is great.

The donut spin is beautiful.

Not a fan of the glass breaking (too jarring for me - like a needle scratching across a record)
I think the musical transition needs to be more seamless

Loved the step-sequence --- to me this has the potential to have the greatest impact (outside of the jumps) - like the "Moonlight" part of her Black Swan SP.

Normally I'm not a fan of lyrics, but I thought it actually worked beautifully here!

The crescendo of the music into her Charlotte Spiral and the DIFFICULT entry into her 2A was
I hope she keeps this 2A entry - because this will really set her apart!!!!

I didn't care for the thunder for the same reason as the glass breaking.

At first I thought "Oh no - not another music change :drama:" --- but now I LOVE the "music box" section.
It really highlights her layback spin into the best Beillman spin she has ever done
Music Box Dancer indeed

I would not use the dramatic POTO theme and instead use "Music of the Night" for the footwork leading into the 3F as well as the ending spins and pose. Just too many music changes for me.

Like everybody else ---- I want to see the Ina Bauer held longer --- her extension on it is great --- we need to see it for as long as possible!!!! I hope they make changes to allow her this, but not too hopeful that will happen.

I was amazed at her I-Spin - yes it may not be as WOW as Yulia's, but look at that extension AND the centering.

And a very nice closing pose.

Thank you Lusk8 --- and welcome back - I have missed your posts!

For someone who just turned 16 a couple of weeks ago this is a remarkable program. As always she hits all of the musical accents with beautiful movements (charlotte spiral, Ina Bauer ecc), her interpretation and expression has matured a lot, her body lines are great, the StSq fits the music and is not overdone (imho) and her PCS will continue to rise. The 3F was spectacular, right on the beat. I've also noticed the Flip is higher and has longer distance than before (to gain more GOE bullets) because the set-up is obviously longer.

I was pleasantly surprised. And the program will get better, it's only august. I don't like the hairstyle because it looks very outdated and old-fashioned.

I am telling you - next season's top news - Alina skating to Memoirs of a Geisha and opening a Sushi restaurant in Moscow

She is so cute! I just love her reactions, her concentration during the fan game and when she was making the sushi! And I love the Japanese for their patience and how they really helped her get closer to the Japanese culture, her kimonos are so beautiful and really emphasize on her natural beauty! I am starting to really like Japan, couldn't imagine Alina's feelings toward this country, she surely feels loved and safe there. That's why I am glad that the next World Championships will be held in Saitama, Japan.

I know its a long way off and "ice is slippery" and there are many strong and wonderful ladies competing....

But I think that 2019 Worlds could be her destiny.

Time will tell. :)

I will just say that her skating has improved. I'm waiting to see the program in GP, with the final costume (very important).

My pleasure my friend. I’m on an extend work trip so internet access (and time zones) have been racking havoc on my posting abilities. Will be on the road until first quarter of September.

I also have like a ton of thumbs up on posts in here I want to give but I need to be on the full site to do it.

But I’m so thankful for all the amazing peeps in this fanfest for keeping my updated, providing views on the programs and giving viewing material I need to check ASAP.

Your reviews are soooo great. [emoji1319][emoji772][emoji1303]

Wow that's an extended time on the road!

I'm glad that you have been able to keep up to date with things, even if you can't post.

Look forward to your full return sometime in September.

Alina's live. She was picking up make up for tomorrow's show, said hi to Mariah and Moris (in English to Mariah). She said that people often ask her how's Masaru rather than how's she doing, and give lots of presents to Masaru. She missed Masaru. She likes Japan but wants to go home already. She said that she wanted to learn English and would find a tutor upon return. As she now talks more with skaters from different countries.

Thank you.

I noticed that the youtube video has been updated with English subtitles for all of Alina's conversation.
So when people watch it - make sure you switch the English subtitles on (well - those like me who can't understand Russian ;))
