Alina Zagitova

Guys, do we have any information about Alina not going to Novogorsk for the SP? I saw this in the other thread but I don’t if it’s true or just rumors at this point...
oh i haven't seen anything about that? where did you see it? :ohwell:

Zhenya made a mistake at Euros, wasn‘t looking her best, not skating clean and coming back from an injury while Alina was absolutely perfect. I guess people just didn‘t expect this to happen again because Zhenya is known for her consistency whereas Alina made multiple mistakes in the GP series so they kind of didn‘t expect her to bring two flawless performances again. And there‘s still the thing with the PCS and whatever. Zhenya was their queen for 2 seasons, twice World champion in a row and all that while Alina was coming straight from juniors. It‘s just to be expected. I was surprised by her win, too. So, while I think it‘s understandable and natural that the Russians were surprised by her win, they could have reacted a bit... better to it. In the end Alina is an athlete who gave two almost flawless performances and won the first gold for their country, not someone who sneaked in and stole Zhenya‘s medal.
If they had done maths, they would have known that Zagitova would have likely won even without the mistake. So they would have seen that Zagitova had a real chance to beat a clean Medvedeva, and wouldn't have been so shocked. It was clear that Zagitova's potential scoring in the free was so high (her highest score for that free is 158), that Medvedeva basically needed the WTT's score to be sure to win against a clinic Zagitova. Which was unlikely to happen as WTT's scores are just jokes.
I understand that casual viewers who knew by media that Medvedeva was the favorite were shocked, but i don't really understand the shock of skating community

I saw it on Evgenia’s thread. But looks like only a rumor to me anyway... I bet she is going (I’m anxious to see if there will be any changes in the SP after The Ice)

I had a nightmare a few weeks ago where Alina had a half white half black dress for POTO and i'll be pissed if it comes true. I hope it wasn't a premonitory vision :laugh2::unsure:

She can recycle her last season SP dress too. Half black half white. It looks like a POTO dress.

huuum we'll see! it's an important event, i don't see her missing it. I'll wait for official announcement

i think most people are tired of tutus  since she's been wearing them for so long now. It's time for a more refined Alina. I hope she won't get something weird like Scherbakova's FS dress :palmf: i still can't understand how they can give her such a pretty sp dress and such a hideous one for the FS

Why are rumors about Alina being posted on another skater's fanfest????

I will officially be pissed at you if your premonitory vision brings something like this to our poor eyes. Don‘t you dare! :laugh2:

I think what made Alina win was mainly because of her jump technique. She doesn't flutz, and has better 2nd toe, and also can execute 2nd loop combinations. Not to mention 2 hand rippons on nearly all of her jumps.

Also her spins are better, better flexibility and speed.

So in my opinion, if both had similar consistency, Alina would win again because she has higher BV, and higher GOE on her Lz and on 2nd toe combinations.

Why do you ask about Novogorsk?
Control Rehearsal or Test Skate will be in Megasport in Moscow.
All members of Team of Russia (figure skating) have to be there, it is mandatory.

Control Rehearsal or Test Skate or Control Skate ( I do not know how to call it in English) will be in Megasport in Moscow, not in Novogorsk.
All members of Team of Russia (figure skating) have to be there, it is mandatory. Alina will be there, no questions about that.

Do not believe everything you will read about Alina on Eugenia's thread.

It seems like Russian Fed is very strict with regulations and so forth. I wonder why they do test skates in the first place. So they can decide who to "push" or "support" this season as a fed?

not really.
Some technical specialists will be there, and other officials. They're going to give a review to skaters about their programs, how to improve some elements, about the rules.
They can block some programs as it was with Kolyada's program in the past. They can order to change something.

The thing with Alina. These tech. specialists visit Sambo very often. Everything they wanted to say about Alina's programs have already been said.

SP is in Novogorsk (closed for public), FS is in Megasport (open for public). Similarly to junior test skates, they are all supposed to live at Novogirsk.

I suppose they could say more when under the competition like pressure of test skates.

I do hope they tell Danill to hold some choreography positions for longer. Why haven't they given Danill some valuable tips, like not using sound effects too much?

The whole glass breaking sound in the SP confuses me. But maybe that's just my opinion.

I don't think they care about the matters of individual tastes, but about the matters of rules.

I hope there will be reports about jumps in SP. I want to know if the combo will be really her first jumping pass.

not really.

That is something i did not know. Thanks for the information. I didn't know the Rusfed had this much power over the coaching teams.

Why are rumors about Alina being posted on another skater's fanfest????

Idk someone wondered how the first meeting between Alina/Eteri/Zhenya would look like and then someone else popped up with the rumour that Alina doesn‘t come to the SP test skates in Novogorsk. It wasn‘t discussed, though, because it doesn‘t have to do with Evgenia. People usually don‘t talk about Alina there.

The test skates for the SP will be in Novogorsk from what I‘ve heard. They are closed to the public, though. And Alina has already shown her SP at a show, the control members who will be there often visit Sambo from what I know (I think atsumiri mentioned it, too) so I guess it wouldn‘t be mandatory for her since they already know everything about her program. But it doesn‘t matter ultimately since she‘ll surely be there for the FS and we‘ll hopefully get to see her as an awesome Carmen! :hap10:
