Alina Zagitova

What does verification do? I know I've seen a lot of twitter posts complaining that instagram hasn't verified her account.

Pretty much solidifies her fame and importance (which we already know but people stumbling across her account might not)
Otherwise, it could be anyone pretending to be Alina. But it also means that she's "not as famous" or "not as good" as other skaters who are verified. Which we all know isn't true but in instagram culture, that's usually how it's interpreted

Thank you very much for the info.

Now it makes sense why people on twitter have complained.

Couldn't agree more!!!

She needs to apply to be verified, from within her account and in the process send them a photo of a picture ID. Under account settings there is a "Request verification" link.

I guess this shows just how humble and modest she is. Olympic champion but keeps working hard rather than try to become insta-famous.
So while I'd love to see her be verified, if it's because of this then I'll accept it.
I hope she feels accepted enough to realize that she is famous and well-loved around the world though!

Oh I think she does, though I don't mind reminding her time and time again :luv17:

Maybe one day she will request it, if she ever does I'm sure we will see that "blue tick" proudly flying in no time, she meets and exceeds all their criteria for getting it (notoriety, having followers, making posts, having a bio under her account, people being interested in her - just the number of fan accounts she has is evidence enough of that - and there are over 30.000 posts tagging her or her name on instagram which is a lot).

Is Alina's interview after the test skates subbed yet? i really need to know what she's saying. Also it's great to see her smile in that video. She's an actual sunshine

yeay thanks

So what we've learned: she is the one who wanted to do carmen since a long time ago but she wasn't mature enough yet! She hadn't have enough time to practice her FS that's why she struggled with it and she'll get comfortable with the program eventually. She was nervous because of the amount of people who came at test skates FS that's why she did not perform as well as in the SP. She likes the programs that were choreographed for her because she trusts her team's decisions. She was shy to show her joy at the olympics conference because zhenya was there too and she witnessed all her hard work (she's too precious we don't deserve her :sad21:) and she got sick after the olympics but insisted to go to keep the 3 spots for Russia. This girl is an angel. I love her so much

I find her mentality fascinating. She said she was shy in front of the crowd, but this girl literally blocked all media pressure during the whole olympic event and skated 3 clean programs (The mistake in the Free was made up for in the 2nd half, so still a clean skate).
I think she has a very strong mentality. Once she gets the consistency right, she skates all clean in big events like Euros, Nationals, GPF, Olympics.

She looks like a supermodel here. :)

She does. Her skating career will last however long it lasts. I assume she will continue to perform long after she stops competing. But even after that I think she'll have a long career in the public eye (fortunately for us fans!) because she is absolutely stunning. And she gives every indication of being as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside.

I think it is going to be fascinating to follow her journey in skating and life.

Now I realise, what public open skates - big mistake of Rusfed ..
Athletes and programms are not ready - falls, nerves etc in front of the audience, why?

Yep, absolutely. Putting skaters under so much pressure to perform at freaking test skates was a no good very bad idea. Unsurprisingly, the two girls whose rivalry got played up for ticket sales had the hardest time to concentrate on their FS. Not gonna lie, I am kind of angry at RusFed for this.

And Alina is such a pure girl! Warms my heart.

On the other hand, skaters are getting used to skate the new program before the audience and have the response from the spectators.

About the interview. Alina is intelligent, humble, nice and beautiful girl. It's an honor to be her fan.

Is this a new thing or they do they do it every year? What the hell could the Olympic champion ever gain from that especially with the new program she's not ready to display yet? If you want to do the open skate for the test skates for the up-and-comers or the skaters ranked 10 to 20 in their discipline but I see no reason for skaters the caliber of Zagitova and Mevedeva to be there when their programs aren't ready yet for the new season.
