Alina Zagitova

I'm seriously so done with the way the media is using this situation... Alina said something really sweet and considerate - that she was thinking of her training mate's feelings, but this segment basically twists it into Alina accusing Zhenya of spoiling her fun, which was obviously not Alina's intention. This whole drama is so frustrating. (well, they also imply that the base value of quads was lowered because Sasha has mastered them, which is also completely absurd... talk about backloading, if you want to mention a rule change that really happened mainly because of Team Eteri's accomplishments)

But it's not only media thing. Those are people who are willing to believe the worst interpretation and don't bother to see the original.

Just to be precise the part that she talks about Alina is not in that video that has been translated. The main part of what she said about Alina is:

I think that now we should support her. A 16 years old girl, a kid with an Olympic medal with the fact that she understands that the entire world is looking at her and waits. “common girl what will you do (show us) now?” And also the fact that she got/picked something, for someone. She won it.

P.S. The translation is mine and may be inaccurate.

Thank you so much for your translation, it is much appreciated!!! :thank:

It speaks to the point we were all talking about earlier (and that Alina indirectly mentioned), about the weight of expectations. I wish Alina a great season start.

Oh, of course, but this is a news segment, for god's sake. On one of Russia's biggest channels. And they're eagerly pouring oil on this, lest the fire dies out and they can't milk it for ratings...

In this case they made interview with Eteri and she said that BV for quads were lowered after juniors started to jump quads. That is how she sees it.

:otopic:
By the way, please, what is exactly what Eteri says about Zhenya (I'm really sorry for putting this question here but there is no other place where peple can talk this factually). In 1:25 She said She is ok with somebody leaving, it is just not OK HOW he is leaving, that's all. And then she says something like "To find the strength in oneself is really hard" but I can't understand the rest.

BossT with all due respect with the title you have put. How exactly is that relevant to Alina? There is a thread Eteri team or something, it's more suitable there.

Olympic champion Alina Zagitova is featured in this particular video as well as others.

We tend to judge athletes in a different way from ourselves in the same age, but from the fact that it took Alina half a year to start talking about her feelings (what Madison called a "more public pleasing answers") and all the "the more I learn about people, the more I like my dog", we can see she silently struggles with all the same things as any of us at the age of 16.

Thank you so much dante, we are very lucky to have you here! We really appreciate your hard work to translate all these interviews, and it means a lot for us! :thank:

My pleasure, truly!

If we can talking about Masaru ,babushka , Iriska , why we can’t talk about her head coach? :scratch2:

P.S. Check out Alina's ISU Bio. http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00101053.htm

Zagitova is the silver medalist in the Olympic Team Event 2018. Zagitova looks up to 2012 World Champion Carolina Kostner (ITA) and to 2016 World Champion Evgenia Medvedeva (RUS). She moved from Izhevsk to Moscow to train in Eteri Tutberidze's group. Her father is an ice hockey coach.

Who wrote this? :palmf:

On the bright side, Alina still officially looks up to Evgenia!

“I think we should support her.She is only 16 a child with the OG. She understands that the whole world is watching and waiting, Girl, what will you do next?...She didn't take away something from someone. She won it"
Great to hear this from Eteri's mouth.
People are losing their minds over eteri's interview on twitter it's so funny to watch :laugh2:

did they completely omit the fact that she's the olympic champion? the disrespect

This cannot remain unfixed. Can someone please email or tweet them and let them know they need to get their sh*t together and stop disrespecting the reigning Olympic Gold Medalist like this?

I get that they are useless, but ftlog that is beyond useless!

ISU needs to up their online update game, but then again they were discussing pen drives vs CDs at the congress [emoji23][emoji23]

Anyway that hasn’t been updated in ages, I bet someone just ticks the competition boxes.

Saw a program at US Classic and wanted to know what that skater was skating to, went to check the ISU bio and only old info.

Hope before the GPs start they update these pages.

I remember perfectly
- that Alina was asked soon after the Olympics about her lack of joy after winning the Gold and she answereed that this is her way to be, more restrained.
and
- that Alina was asked about the participation at Worlds at that time (given the circumstances, flu, busy season) and she said that indeed she and her team didn't take into consideration to not participate because it's her first World Champ.
It's good that now, after some months, her answers are different, more public pleasing I would say :)).

There was nothing wrong with her answers before either.
