Alina Zagitova

I'm seriously so done with the way the media is using this situation... Alina said something really sweet and considerate - that she was thinking of her training mate's feelings, but this segment basically twists it into Alina accusing Zhenya of spoiling her fun, which was obviously not Alina's intention. This whole drama is so frustrating. (well, they also imply that the base value of quads was lowered because Sasha has mastered them, which is also completely absurd... talk about backloading, if you want to mention a rule change that really happened mainly because of Team Eteri's accomplishments)

Alina summed it up best in her interview - "not everyone is as sincere as animals"

She can't even give a caring thoughtful interview without some media outlet trying to twist it for their own agenda.

I'm a latecomer to this thread and Alina's fan group, but I'm super excited for her new season. The first time I saw her perform was her Olympic free skate, and I could not believe she was only fifteen! Her performance ability, her maturity, her makeup, it all made her seem so grown up. I think she is a very classy young lady, and I wish that more people would support her instead of trying to cast her as the doomed henchwoman in Eteri's eternal quest to make Evgenia's life miserable.

I think Alina gets plenty of support.

I don't see anyone casting her as a "doomed henchwoman" except maybe a handful of nasty fanatics.

If anything she is usually portrayed as another victim of "Evil Eteri".

I just don't want her to become collateral damage in a "war" that is becoming more and more crazy.

yeah i saw that on russian tv they showed eteri's interview and they seem to have completely twisted alina's words! it went from "i was shy to show my joy by respect for my team mate who worked hard" to "medvedeva's presence didn't let her fully enjoy her gold" which is kind of a problematic & shady wording in my opinion. Very different from the way Alina said it, her wording showed no malice at all.

That‘s a funny narrative considering Zhenya literally competed really well all those years without a “real“ rival pushing her. If anything, it‘s more like they both benefitted from each other‘s presence at the Olympics.

I think Eteri just omitted the obvious and many times mentioned fact that Zhenya has had a huge influence on Alina.

ISU bio are as usefull as a cobbler in the Shire.

On the other hand, they usually have music updated by the time an athlete makes his debut in a season. I usually listen to the first warm-ups of JGP events on background, and I always find a lot of new beautiful music from bands and genres I've never listened to.

On the bright side, Alina still officially looks up to Evgenia!

And Eteri is still officially Zhenya's coach.

“I think we should support her.She is only 16 a child with the OG. She understands that the whole world is watching and waiting, Girl, what will you do next?...She didn't take away something from someone. She won it"
Great to hear this from Eteri's mouth.
People are losing their minds over eteri's interview on twitter it's so funny to watch :laugh2:
Yes great words from Eteri. But long overdue.

Why are twitter twitts upset with what Eteri said?

Why does she feel that way? She has very good teammates very sweet girls from the seniors to the Juniors. Figure skating must be very tough on sweeties like Alina. I have to say I kind of prefer animals to people as well. ;)

The dynamic is different for Alina. She is going to have to face her teammates in battle--not exaggerating, Nationals will be a complete bloodbath this year--so I don't think she appreciates Sasha's quads and Alena K's artistry the same way we can. There's enormous pressure on her, the Olympic champion, to be the best, just as there was on Evgenia entering the Olympics. I read some interview about Evgenia saying, "This is sport. This is war." Alina probably thinks the same way, and so do the juniors.

Well said. Nationals for the Russian women and girls will be like a mini Olympics. Awesome.

She doesn't mean "everyone". We don't even know if it is someone she trains/trained with. Maybe encounters with two-faced people have jaded her a little bit. I know she is only 16, but she has also had to deal with a lot more people (peers and adults) than an average teenager. Comes with the territory.

Oh just the usual suspects who always have something to say about her; just being mad at her existing really! They're obsessed with her despite hating her; you can witness it closely with madison who is always lurking in this thread :laugh2: I've seen "Alina is over, nobody is talking about her in Russia, instead there's Trusova on tv all the time because of her quads, i've seen oh there she goes playing the nice girl trying to make zhenya look like the bad guy blablabla! :palmf:

Anyway, i hope that Eteri claiming on national tv that Alina has her support is a good sign. She will really need it this season (and the next seasons cause i'm sure she'll stay around for some time unlike most people who think she'll retire soon for whatever reason). Although we never know with Eteri, she can love you one second and drag you on national tv the next :noshake: she had already kicked Alina out once and took her back because she saw her potential and Alina did not disappoint her with her achievements so... :agree:

Hey folks, please use this thread for Alina - not wisecracks, insults, or other comments on a coach. Thanks!

Well, because of the context Eteri says this: in a segment that's not centered around Alina - as she would well deserve, but instead concentrates on attacking Evgenia. And that's after Eteri herself was the one who kind of downplayed Alina's victory. As someone who very much likes Alina, I'm glad her coach has finally some nice things to say about her, but I'm NOT glad the saying nice things part somehow can't happen without Eteri talking smack about Evgenia. Just talk about Alina on her own, instead of dragging her into your vendetta against a totally different person. What the hell? I'm pretty sure Alina wants no part in this and would just like to concentrate on her skating. And then there's what I think about all of this as someone who very much likes Evgenia as well...

By the way, since i'm the one who brought up people being mad at Eteri's interview, i want to clarify that i was not talking about zhenya fans who are pissed about her dragging her name in the mud again because i very much understand their outrage. I like Zhenya very much too. I was talking about the few ones who are losing their minds over her (finally) saying something nice about Alina: "mouhaha she's so fake, she probably does not like Alina at all, she didn't even want her to win the olympics" those are the comments i was talking about.
Also some people overreacted to her comment about the quads being devalued. I just found it funny because it's obviously not that serious.

Just because these people are nasty and devious - they must assume everyone else is.

Alina doesn't need to play the "nice girl" --- Alina IS a nice girl. :2thumbs:

All because they didn't get their little "fairy tale ending" a few months ago. TFB.

Text is correct , you can see all her titles in Bio ( Olympyc gold ,GPF 1, National 1,World 5 ,Europe 1)
they just forgot to add "Also"..

Also , Zagitova is the silver medalist in the Olympic Team Event 2018. Zagitova looks up to 2012 World Champion Carolina Kostner (ITA) and to 2016 World Champion Evgenia Medvedeva (RUS). She moved from Izhevsk to Moscow to train in Eteri Tutberidze's group. Her father is an ice hockey coach.
